Neither am I. But I figure we'd find something to do.

...also it's texas after all. Zeeba probably has lots of guns for us to shoot something. Just bring target printouts. And cans.

It would be a party of its own, really. A TWHL party. I imagine it would be enough by itself, what with us all meeting at last. I'm generally bad at recognising people so I would probably object to bringing non-TWHL people at least until the last few days and if it's only for one day :P If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't mind.

If Inception is an acceptable reference, the longest flight in the world is Australia-Los Angeles at... 24 hours was it? And then you need another 2-3 hour flight to do Los Angeles-Houston.

You're in for some fun.

It's a bit optimistic of you to expect a number of flights from around the world to land at about the same time in Houston :P

But yeah, we have plenty of time to plan it.

I thought Rim was in Florida. If the blue line in that map is ~2700km, Florida is about 1200km away. That's not a stone throw away. That's a distance comparable to going from Portugal to Switzerland. That's three countries away :P

@CT: Shortest drive is 1698 miles = 2717 km and traverses a total of 11 states. Would you seriously consider sitting in a car for 24-28 hours with a bunch of foreign, murderous strangers?

I'd be all for it if I happened to spare a few thousand dollars for the flight. I don't think that will happen within 2 years though.

Question: Your dad owns land. Your mum's family owns land. Why exactly do you want to divide it? And why would it take long?

If I'm ever filthy rich I'll host a grand TWHL meetup and take care of everyone's flight and accomodation.

I don't doubt it's more flexible than what's normal in GS, but I imagine it grows exponentially with the number of textures you want to use. So it can be a lot of work.

in Sledge (Hammer Alternative) Alpha Build Post #323152
Hammer will also let an object be a part of 2 groups, but if you can prevent this in Sledge,it would be a good thing :)
I object to this. I don't have a problem with that. Sometimes you want to hide/unhide particular groups of things and a group of brushes may belong in more than one such group for a particular purpose. I suppose you could have a third group to hold the things that belong to both the first groups, but I think that's up to the mapper to decide, not the tool.

Definitely. Although I still get the feeling Source is clunky and coarse and if I want something fine, I should be using something entirely different.

Looks like I never posted. I did check out the example map and since I just looked at it again more closely, I thought I'd come back here and say it's a clever workaround for this limitation. Thanks for figuring it out!

Now that I finished dissecting your example and understand how it works, I need to tinker with it to adjust it to my needs. I think it's perfect for what I need.

Could it be related to mipmaps? Perhaps after a certain size they're all just transparent. Although I don't think that would do much for performance.

Did you try 2-second shutter + mirror lockup?
Posted 9 years ago2014-12-28 02:26:28 UTC
in Post Your Photos Post #323015
Definitely. Remote shutter on a 2 second delay, with mirror lockup. Even without a remote shutter, the other two should improve everything a lot. And make sure to set manual focus on infinity so that the camera doesn't change it.

Noone can refuse this. We're also expecting some good looking neighbour having a shower or something :P

(yeah I know, most likely she won't be in the shower with the window open at this time of the year...)
