it's server side only, so whatever you do you have to be runnign a server to do it, it may be useful to write a plug-in for amcx, then ppl who want top play your ideas, can play them anywhere, on any map.

you can use models that are still packed into teh gfc simply byu entering their correct name, the ymay not show up in hammer btu they will be there in the game.

I'd say give up on HLDM, it's about as fun as jabbing eyes in your needles.

don't listen to me though.

you can strip the players weapons, and you can also spawn weapons where teh ydropped them, but teh tricky thing would be spawning the right weapons, the only way i can see is AMX m8 =)

use textured lighting, never use pint, you can switch tex lighting as well, so it's great tbh.

go to valve hammer editor/tools/valve.rad to see how it works, teh first three numbers are teh R G B color scale. the last one is teh brightness.

and I have teh leaked Hammer somewhere, so it's not hard to get. Bit out of date, but it does the job.

and you should see the pushables (etc) in Source, bombs go off, and barrels and all sorts of shit flies around and kills people, it;s awesome.

momentary button etc, I think that's the best way, it solves all my problems, I think 7th mentioned thsi a while ago, but I didn't investigate it fully, to my detriment.

and it's not for CS, steve, you know me better than that, my cs days are over.

pimped out m249 for m249, I never did liek anything too crazy, I did love that minigun though, very fun, especially with teh sounds. But not very cs.
re-skinned/modelled gsg31, great sounds, a really metal piercing metal sound.
all teh rest were just re-skinned/tweaked versions of teh originals.

I only use v_ models, no player skins, and no other fps dropping stuff, as i only used to get 30 fps max due to my gfx card.

OK, I need to know what you gusy think would work, and if you have any suggestions, as I've been trying to crack this one for a whiel now, and rather than just change objectives in my map, I really want to get this working.

Problem:

Imagine a room with 2 entrances/exits, I need to somehow set it up, so that when a certain team enters teh area, a timer starts, and will activate another entity (don't worry about this entity), but! when that same team leaves or a member of teh other team enters the timer stops.

Basically, it doesn't rely on "a member of teh other team enters the timer stops." - thsi doesn't need to be in tehre, but it would be nice if tehre was a way, like I said though, doesn't have to be.

The most important thing is getting it so taht when teh last man inside this 'field' leaves, teh timer stops, and they have to re-enter it again to start teh timer once more.

I would also liek some kind of text to notify them of the fact that the timer starts, is there a team specific way of doing that?

Here are some relevant words/themes:

Capture teh flag

hold teh fort

trigger multiple/once/relay

that's about the only prompts I can think of, any solutions? Or even links to anything similar?

I agree, you need to put the .dll's in teh right place though, I had a few problems with them when I first added them, but teh main problem was that my steam wasn't runnign at the time, which is why i tried, I gave up on WON (haha and tehre's me telling u never to give up!) and worked on getting steam running.

Tbh, never give up, it's bad mapping, ask 7th, I didn't stop harrasing people until I had a possible solution to a problem, then I worked for several hours until I had solved it, and my map will be alot better for it.

Map for steam, look to release maps for steam, WON is dead, upgrade upgrade upgrade.

an animated texture is made liek so:

create your series of textures, ie a light switch in teh ON and OFF position (for example)

now in wally name teh FIRST texture in the series:

+0_texname

the next:

+1_texname

note that you can only have 10 textures in an animated series, so it will go from +0 to +9 only.

You need to have Hammer 3.5, and it needs to fgd taht comes with it, on the same page as teh Hammer download.

If you're viewing it in an HLMV program, you need the latest one taht supports model transparency.

teh model should be rendered properly in-game, where is it not rendered properly?

in game?
or in hammer?

make sure you test in steam, as it has teh correct and updated dll's taht are required for model transparency.

I think before you start looking for things that are wrong with teh footage and teh evidence involved, you should look at why teh US would want to do somethign like that.

Personally I believe it happened.

And I believe, if a country as dilapidated and run-down, and war weary as teh soviet union was, if they could challenge the Americans in a space race, why on earth is it un-feasible taht the yanks actually had better equipment tahn the commies?

what about the rumbling?

I think that was a reference to teh fact that it wasn't a creature they could easily identify, tehy never said it was a shaking rumbling, more a distant rumbling, a noise as opposed to a feeling.

are you joking? please tell me you're joking. why would he kill himself? where in the story does he talk about it? believe me, if you're thinking of killing yourself you try and warn people about it, a last call for help, as it were.

why would you not want to kill them? is that not the whole object of a multiplayer game?

and 7th gave teh only asnwer you should listen to:

code

this kind of thing is not included in teh map.

what alot of ppl don't seem to understand, is that the map is what you might call teh front end of the whole game as a unit, the code is liek teh backbon,e deciding what to do next, and how somethign behaves, and calling on different models and actions, the maps are just a visual representation of teh whoel process.

so if you take somethign that you physically have to do, ie press a button on teh keyboard, chances are that some part of the code is controlling that...

.. and that it will be impossible to control form a map.

the hard way i talked about, would be to write a plug in for AMX, AMX is your only way to alter the game's code (so to speak) while keeping it the same game, that people can play without downloading a new mod.

actually, I think it would be better to delete them and make it again, and try to get the VM right, rather than just make a func_wall...

8192 is teh max, open Hammer, go to Map / Map Properties / Max Viewable distance

or

open gl, and actually change it to open gl, not just pretend that you did.

those are the only things that can cause that problem.

To make a walkway, that you can shoot through, and you can walk on, you need a texture, try: {GRATE2A

Now make a brush (block/rectangle/whatever) and texture it with that tex. Select teh brush, click on To Entity on the right hand side of Hammer, select : func_illusionary, in the menu below it's name, go to:

Render Mode <- change it from 'normal' to Solid

and also:

FX Amount <- change it to 255

Now Exit the entity.

Make another brush in exactly the same place as teh func_illusionary, and texture it with the texture called by the name of:

clip

To find those textures, look in the halflife.wad, and use the Filter bar at the bottom.

Anything textured with clip means the player can't move past it, but it is invisible in-game, and bullets can go through it.

it's possible, but hard, an you'd have to make a few compromises along the way.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but when you shoot someone and they die, they drop their weapons.
