yeah. everything for me went down though. but i think it's pretty much the same otherwise. because the models look better yet (even though alot of them were remade, i mean they seem higher res) although i think some of the map textures are a bit on the low side, but i don't mind.

even in the most intense scenes, like the antlions w/ the rebels and the sensors, and the first ministrider attacks, i was still getting pretty low lag, if any. i should turn on net_graph so i can see. =D

EP2 DOES require higher standards though. In HL2 and such it automatically sets EVERYTHING on the highest for me. In EP2, most of it is on Medium.

Episode 2 is running fine for me. Except for glitches and missing textures, but I know the reason for that...

Maybe you do need to update your card? ATI =P
Besides that, it could be other simple things. Last time you defragged your disk?

making water look realistic is a whole other project in itself. and the coast was VERY open, im surprised they did as well as they did. especially considering it was 2004, and it still outdoes some present day games in graphics and gameplay by far.

I personally (even though I haven't picked up the orange box yet) think EP2 doesn't and never would have any reason for new weapons... especially seeing as it wouldn't make much sense... I can see them sending in the new enemies in EP2 as more logic on combine part, but why would they send in new weapons for gordon to kill them with? Unless of course the rebels invited a new weapon and SOME HOW just so HAPPENED to have it with them when they stumbled upon freeman...

it just makes sense like that!

By the sounds of it, the music is still good. Although, my FAVORITE half-life music compostition was the one during Gonarch fight, I loved the hell outta that piece. =) It made it just feel awesome, and I hope they leave it in for Black Mesa Source, maybe redo it the same to up the quality, make it sound more clear and stuff? Dunno. =)

Don't forget that you can play through Ep. 2 with Portal, as well
I'm still confused on this. Does that mean that you can play all the levels of Episode 2 with just the Portal gun? How the fuck could you beat it? You can't tell me you can just teleport yourself away from all the battles??

because the .map isn't built as complex and shit... and sometimes things don't transfer right... i dunno.

in map file question Post #235580
One is alot more complex and stores alot more data from the map, everything in fact.

The other only stores the basis and therefore creates a much smaller file size, it can also be useful in case the main file gets corrupted. But in most cases, most people don't work from it.

Splinter Cell series (even the sloppy recent one),
Everyone always say that. But there are 2 versions. I've never played the x06/pc version, but I have the PS2 version which is more similar in such as to the older ones. And I thought it was quite fun. So I'm thinking a lot more people went for the PC or the xbox 360 rather than the old consoles and such...

My story is very short and simple... I guess.

I can't say I really played any video games until the Nintendo 64 was released, where I played Super Mario 64. Of course there was my favorite game at that time which were the Banjo-Kazooie games on the Nintendo 64 (right?).

Of course I got a PS2 and got into sports games (MADDEN and Tony Hawk and NCAA and such). Soon my friend showed me The Sims and I got hooked on that, got the computer version, got the sequel and so forth. But through that time period, I got bored often and played other games such as Starcraft and Warcraft 3. My friends once again showed me Counter-Strike... so I bought Day of Defeat... (don't ask me about the logic there). Soon I bought the Valve Complete Pack just for the hell of it, found Half-Life, found modding, found here, and never really got heavy into mapping/modding.

As I said, it was short, very strange, and pretty sad...
