Again, if you're looking for a co-op mod that allows you to play through original HL/HL2/Episode levels with your friends, get Synergy (search for it in Steam mods) - it's free.

AI = artificial intelligence. In other words, it defines how the monster interacts with his environment. As MuzzleFlash said, you can add his model to your map with a monster_furniture or monster_generic entity, however, it will just stand there doing absolutely nothing.

You can't script or map proper AI, the only real way of doing that is programming (C++).

Hah, giggled at the fine print for the drink and can design. "NOW WITH ISOTOPES!"
Anyway, sounds like a bang-on unlockable. Outrunning bullets should be a blast. The after-effect(see fine print), which slows you down sounds fair too.

Achievements look alright as well.

The costumes/props were incredibly well-made for a 500$ budget. Effects were fairly good as well. Apart from the script sounding a tad cheap, I loved this.

in Don't have Left 4 Dead yet? Post #262759
L4D is amazingly fun with the right people. Had some awesome matches with ATD and NickelPlate today. :)
And, ummmm, yes ... it's brainbread on source with more than one mod of playing and more eyecandy.
Played a bit of both, so let me correct you. Left 4 Dead is BrainBread on Source plus..
  • Loads of new, distinct monsters
  • A far stronger need for tactics (thanks to new monsters, AI Director, etc.)
  • A far bigger demand for co-operation from the players and thus a far stronger sense of achievement after success
  • Completely dynamic and adaptive enemy/item placement (thanks to AI Director)
  • A much deeper, more creative multiplayer system (thanks to new monsters, AI Director, etc.)
  • A proper back story and actual interesting, distinct characters (what you call eye candy?)
  • Unique cinematic effects (eye candy?)
  • Overall far better looks (eye candy again?)
  • Physics (eye can-.. wait, you didn't mean that, did you?)
So yeah, I guess you can say L4D is a BB clone on Source plus eye candy. Just like you can say HL2 is a HL1 clone with glitter sparkled on it and a new location. A-yup. Bang-on observations there, buck-o.

I don't see why people insist on writing off this game as "not worth the price"
For some it was the issue of spending 50 euros on a game when you're already really short on cash. Knowing Valve's marketting, a price drop was bound to happen soon enough, so why not save yourself the extra buck?

Thanks for the feedback. :crowbar:
I see some clipping in the third junction from the left.
If you mean the pipe intersecting with the junction, I'll try fixing that. Fitting the pipes with the junctions with the angled walls with the grid is quite the pain in the ass though. :<
Now I feel like my mod project is plain, and I think I've added more detail than a lot of valve maps.
Making a mod with a detail level like that would be far too time-consuming (spent ~10hrs on the architecture alone, it's only half-done and there's still ent setups/lighting/ambience to finish up). Plus the levels would have unplayable wpoly counts (I'd estimate ~3-5000 for a single room). So have no worries there. I just figured since this is just a one-room project, I'd stuff as much as possible in it.

Figured I'd deviate a bit from my usual copypasted symmetry for once and try something more interesting. Also managed establishing a texture theme, as well as most of the architectural style. Only side walls and floor left.

Those supports took forever to get right - the final result is quite pleasing. The circular holes in the ceiling are meant to look look the glowing holes in the ceiling/walls seen in Portal. Will try to replicate that glow effect. They'll serve as a path for the heavy machinery to come out (just like in Portal), which will manufacture.. nevermind, I'll keep that as a surprise. ;)

EDIT: Current map figures are pretty scary. I'll be hitting 1000 solids soon and the main detail stuff's only ~60% done. :gak:
