i haven't looked at it, but it might be caused by the renderer looking at too many faces at once. try using hint and skip textures in the zoner wad. read the tut on r_speeds for more details.

a screw it. ur sounds aren't playing because (watch developer mode carefully) they are in the wrong format. I tried a custom alarm sound and everything was set up properly, but when a played it, the developer said the sound pathname and something about stereo.
To fix this, open up sound recorder "Windows: Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/
Sound Recorder", and then open your sound. then go to Save As... and below where it shows "Save as type:" it shows the format of your sound. click on "change" and set the format to PCM and the Attributes to "11,025 Hz, 8 bit, Mono. That is the standard and I think required format for CS and HL sounds.

Hope you fix it...

ok... the thing about grenades in cs is they are so lame that they never kill unless it lands on your head or u are half dead anyways. at most they do about 45 damage, and do an average of 25.

And yes, vehicles, sort of, have damage when blocked. It's called Crush, and i think it only does damage to people though.

I would, but i just don't have time. I think all you have to do is use ambient_generic, give it a name, put the path as your custom sound, and tick the "don't loop" and "start silent" flags. Then make a trigger or something with the target as the name of the ambient_generic. The custom sound should be in your "sounds" folder, too. If you want it to be a sound that just loops in the background near a point, don't give it a name and untick the "don't loop" and "start silent" flags.

When you upload a map with custom sounds to the vault, be sure to include those sounds. I hoped this helped.

Yea, building new maps may spoil the sp on it.You don't know wut and how it does stuff if u play it first, and then it seems more like "Gordon" than "Sprites and Models".

And by the way, even though some stupid-ass moron leaked a multi-million dollar project to the public and is due in for sueing up to his ears and several years of jail-time (and let's not forget the lonely nights in the snark pits with the particularly poor food conditions they've been experiencing lately), people still are using the code to make there own MODs for the game. Who's dumber? The fool or the fool who follows him, Steinin?

I wanna make a tank (func_vehicle) that let's you run over and crush breakables. More specifically, i want to make a wall of breakable or something that can get run into by a func_vehicle that will get crushed and destroyed. Also, how do I make breakables respond and break when hit by grenades in CS?

I always include POD-Bot waypoints when giving out my maps. That's how i test-play my maps. I know they at least work and about what can be done with them.

If you people don't playtest CS maps then just get POD-Bot. It's worth it.

you need to get the counter-strike fgd first of all. then the terrorists spawns are the deathmatch point-entities. you need both on a map to start. when you run your map, use the commands
"-game cstrike +deathmatch 1"
after the $game_exe in the expert compile mode. or if you want it to be a singleplayer cs map (OMG! THEY DO EXIST! I've made them before) make a point class entity and where it say "func_wall" or whatever the class is, type in item_suit, like you would for HL, and don't use "+deathmatch 1".

yea, well. there are so many maps out there because they're so damn easy to make crappy ones that make no sense. yesterday, i played on an "aim" map (if you make an aim or fy map, then ur just gay). this map had four short walls and a big square of sand that went on for miles. on one side was all of the t's with ak47s on the ground out of there spawn reach. 10 feet away from the wall was a yellow stripped line, and if you crossed it, the sand burned you to death. on the opposite end was all of ct's with m4a1s and in the same situation.

so in other words, the whole map consisted of 9 total brushes.

i played another in a hollow box that had the pavement texture everywhere except the piece of glass seperating the two teams. the goal was to throw the grenades that were on the ground over the glass and kill the other team. it consisted of 2 brushes and didn't even have a weaponstrip. it even still had a buyzone so you can get guns to shoot thru the glass.

that's why i focus on serious maps. ones that are playable.

yea. i didn't say anything about x-bix because nobody brags about it. that machine was made to be a "special" console. if it has a modem, then what's wrong with having a hard drive, right?

you will never see another shooter as good as pd and goldeneye. simply because the video gaming world is so screwed up nowadays. PCs are the only true gamer's friend.

ok. the tracker thingy is just bull. ignore it. it's harmless. it does NOTHING. when it says got velocity w/e, that means your mp5 fell into the great void of nothingness. to see what i mean, make a map with a HUGE leak in it, and jump off the side. you'll get the same results, especially if u throw ur gun. if u want a gun to be on your map, use the armoury entity thingy. put it a little above the ground where you want it to be found, and then try it. if it's a hl map and you're trying to add an ak... why?

well, i'm trying to use the projects that came with the sdk. i didn'y know wut they were at first, oops.

i don't know squat about c++. i can do a little qbasic and javascript, but not c++.

how sad is this? i lived in west virginia (the alleged home of the hicks) where i was in a qbasic class. next year i would have been taking c++. i move to pennsylvania (where they make fun of hicks), and find that nearly my entire school is made up of hicks and there aren't any programming classes. that's a little stupid, isn't it?

I compiled client.dll and mp.dll from the half-life SDK and neither one of them are acceptable. client.dll is missing stuff, and it just plain won't accept mp.dll. what is going on and where can i get working source-code?

I bought a few blank CD's the same size, so every other ignorant bastard can take his BIG cd and shove it up his ass (cuz they probably like it).

So, your ps2 has support for only two players and a big-ass plate of steel. oh boy. what a game machine.
