Not to jump on the annoying band waggon of what's allowed and not but I think custom sounds should be allowed. Oh wait, I guess I can use hl2 sound for gold. Right?

I suggest you actually don't add "everything" because than it wouldn't be thematic, it would just be make any map using all these textures... Not having certain things may help.

Yea, and if you do they will notice and you'll be disqualified... That's just sort of a silly question because "you can see" the textures used... If you can't then why on earth would it matter?

Anyways, guess it won't be very thematic but who cares.

Yea I agree, the point has been made clear. Good textures just could be more thematic...

And i'm curious about the poll as well...

Looking good archie, but I agree that they seem a little un thematic. Think "dust theme", "aztec theme", "jungle theme", "robotic theme" etc... I think the lab theme has been a littler overplayed don't you think?

How about, write ideas in blue. Then, put them in a poll. Sorry doggybag, forgot "falling". Its an interesting idea but pretty strange.

How about this be a thread where you submit ideas. Than "BY A CETAIN DATE" and I emphasise that because otherwise it tends to go on forever, we cast a vote. Once the theme is chosen we go from there on getting it set up.

So start submitting ideas? And come up with a date. How about give it a week so 11/26/11, all ideas submitted?

So far there's texture pack, story/description, theme park, 1024 units cubed...

If anyone disagrees with this idea or has a better idea go ahead and sorry i'm not trying to run it but just help make it happen. Is this a good idea?

What would you do? make a bunch of carnival rides and roller costers? Atleast "goldsource" is a horrible engine for this kind of thing and to make intricate rides would be mayhem. You couldn't have loops, flips etc... Goldsource without spirit doesn't support tied together entities and even with spirit is buggy as hell. I personally am not a big fanof the phony feeling theme parks put off but that's just a personal note.

With all the limitations, more focus would go into making the rides work rather than making them look good and interesting. I would feel too limited to make quality work. Goldsource is just not meant for this... Yes you could do it. I've made a small rollercoaster before and it was pretty ineteresting. But I think that it veres away from design and more towards engineering and that kind of thing.

Comments?

I'm not lazy, i'm trying to get things going. This shit usually sits around for months before taking off.

Texture=good idea. Themepark=bad idea. Story=good but may take much time.

How about come up with the story instead of beating around the bush. I've been through this crap before on this site and the most popular one always wins so it tends to be a big waste of time to go through the process. I think it would be a great idea but don't have much time to dedicate to the comp. because of school and work. The texture one might have a better turn out during the beginning of the fall semester...

Just pick anything and go with it. Texture's looking pretty popular so pick it and find someone to make the textures. Or lets select a theme and have everyone submit textures for the theme. Then the moderators can pick which ones they want to use for it from them.

Maybe we could do Dragos' next time? Its interesting too. Jsust seems like the textures one will get off the ground faster though.

Texture pack. But a good interrelated thematic one. I've been really busy in school and work literally non stop but I could atleast try. The project i'm doing right now for architecture is actually being entered into a pretty much "irrelevant to our project" competition. Pshh its a "green" type competition but i'm a "design" architect student. Maybe i'll have to sort of adapt. Is it possible to adapt but not conform?

in Dreams Post #298383
Just had one where there were ghosts in the closet right next to my bed. They were making noise so I opened my closet and saw my hanging clothes moving around vigorously. I showed my brother.

Then I had a cool dream where the sky was grey and I was in a vast field of hay. I saw a gigantic white tail deer look at me and than dash off very quickly into the woods.

I wouldn't have posted these dreams but the first one got me scared because of what happened today. I went shopping for some needed supplies for homework and when I returned home a few hours later I went upstairs and set my supplies in the hallway. Than I headed downstairs and as I was going I heard a thud in my brother's room. I went to his room and checked it out but didnt see anything. Than I went to my room but the door was locked! I assumed that either someone else was in my house and locked it or I accidentely locked it and the thud was anything else "most likely".

So I grabbed my dad's 9mm and unlocked my door through its hole with a screwdriver and busted in. Nothing was there but my room's closet has an attic door so I checked the pretty much the entire attic and didn't see anything. There are a few corners I didn't get around to but I think I will wait until someone else gets home to check it out.

It was just weird that I had the nightmare of ghosts in my closet and than this happened the morning after.

Dragos, please do something better than worry about this! Many of the textures are very shrunken and make them look like hl2. And it is possible to use hl1 textures in hl2. And 4,5,6 and 8 could not be hl1 textures judging from the screenshot though they probably are.

The hud is dif. than mine. And I assumed it was gold but just said because its good enough to look like source.

And still can't rec. gold? I map a lot for it lol and know what gold looks like. This just looked better. And i'm not too familiar with source so I wouldn't know what to look for.

I agree with Rim on that one.

There is however a guy that is really really cut that works out at my gym. But he is skinny and looks so much like Gordon. He's pretty tall. I'll try to get a pic of him with my cell phone next time I see him there.

Decided I'll go with the Ruger lcp instead. She's a beaut. I will also carry a knife and mace.

Tazer is a decent idea too. Either way i'm buying the gun just to have at home.

This things smaller than my cell phone and carries 6 .380 bullets. They're almost the size of 9mm's. And I can get this gun for $300.

Compared it in the store to the taurus tcp and fell in love with the ruger. People made it's trigger pull look too hard on youtube but it was very easy and much nicer than the taurus'.

After all this, I may just settle for mace and a knife. :tired:

This makes me think again.

If I carry I will get a taurus tcp .380. But also mace and a knife so I have multiple options.

Martial arts isn't the art of being aware. Its the art of paying a teacher too much money for bs you could figure out on your own.

I am a master, bow to your sense

And I guess you could bring pepper spray to a gun fight, if you prefer that method...

@luke, that was my plan. I'm 22 now and haven't gotten my own pistol yet but revolvers are a nice choice because of their lack of jamming and simplicity. Also they look sweet. I'd recommend atleast an eight shot though.

And scotch, once again thats an answer to the broad. I'm an individual with an individual situation. I believe a gun will help me in my situation. But what might help even more is going the extra mile to get my car and than my belongings. Or pair up.

I'm the same way Disco. If someone got into my car or wallet theye'd find dust. I've always been that way. Just turns out I won't even go to school without my laptop, its my most important tool. Never came across a sit. like this. I'm a fighter but not against guns. I planned on defending my stuff somehow and to my benefit it just so happens that Texas and other stated just passed a law allowing guns on public campuses. Guns are very beneficial if used properly and only if so.

As for carrying it and having it actually at school, I realized I don't need a safe for it. I have a safety lock I can put on it and just throw it in my backpack. If someone stole it they couldn't shoot it. And if I have to walk alone through the lot i'll unlock it and keep it ready. I'f i'm not walking with my laptop I probably won't even have the gun on me...

Yea. Well if I were to draw it to shoot I wouldn't follow that rule but I guess I should if I wasn't sure that I wasn't going to shoot it. I really have no experience with robbery self deffense so don't watch the vid as instructional. It was just what I would probably do.

Crollo looking at your journal makes me even more aware of how unfamiliar you are with guns. Scopes look "absolutely nothing" like that! The previous ones look better.

And like i've said, you "must" take the long course to get the license in the first place.

If someone has it in them to rob someone with a "gun" they deserve to get shot. You think they're following the finger rule?

For the most part I don't think I would actually ever draw my gun. But it helps to be prepared.

People think there's a solution to solve the broad issue of gun violence but i'm not the publice, this is an individual case. I happen to be in a predicament having to carry such expensive things at such late hours in the night through a dark ghetto parking lot three times a week.

I'm way open to suggestions and the only really nice one's are that I should pair up with someone. For the most part I will try to do so. Any other ideas? I know the best idea is to try to totally avoid confrontation in the first place.

Perhaps I can even just drive my car up to the front and than go get my laptop...
Posted 13 years ago2011-08-06 02:30:50 UTC
in Local Gun Law Post #297456
Uh, I said i'd draw my gun if the robber said "give me your money". And keeping your finger off the trigger is something I learned in grade school. I'm not worried about someone if their aiming a gun at me. I'm worried about eliminating the threat as quick as possible. If someone comes at me "aiming a gun at me" and demans something, I wouldn't stand there and call the police. Are you on drugs?

And it's a double action trigger its extremely hard to pull. Quit watching tv about guns and shitty karate and go outside.
