these books are usually very newbie oriented, ive used one before (for build, old!!) and it was a great introduction and never got into anything advanced, although saying that the internet didnt exist that much back then
I always disable signatures, anyone who uses them for advertising is warped in the head. Sad bastards.
www.jobsmaps.com The best mapping site ever, in the world, go there now NOW NOW
i think its wonderful that wcd has finally come out as the woman he is inside, 'making the change' must be one of the hardest things to come to terms with
the moral is that this forum is no place for this kind of shit, yes I have looked at messed up porn someones sent me or Ive found through the infinately fluffed up SA forums, yes Ive also seen stuff like the above that makes your eyes water. This is a nice community of nasty cynical brits, so please leave our poor virgin eyes alone.
what any sane mapper for hl1 would have done and should do for hl2, just because the engine needs less optimisation does not mean 'ignore everything you learned mapping for hl1'
would you wait even more than 15 seconds for the music to load on a website?? Yes the woes of 56k have gone but its still sloppy and even 40 extra seconds waiting for a map to load is not a good thing, plus not everone has 2mbit.
yes the music is great, but surely you must see that 10 megs of it is taking the piss a bit, thats 3 times more than most hl1 maps INCLUDING RESOURCES!
isnt that what labour stood for in 1997 7th? before todays budget focussed on those working class that come home from a long days work and crack open a bottle of dom perignon
actually scratch that, after looking through what made up the filesize he's put in 10 meg of mp3s. I dont mean to sound harsh but any mapper who deludes themself in thinking someone wants to listen to ENTIRE MOVEMENTS while playing CS needs their head checking. Very, very poor map design.
hl2 bsps are capable of being about 500 times bigger than your average hl map, but a map of hl1 size takes up about the same. It doesnt take a lot now to push the map above 10 meg.
Anyway, this is a brilliant map but obviously looks arent everything, the map suffers from two major drawbacks that any map would be destroyed for. a) rediculous file size, expecting someone to download a 35 meg map (zipped!) is a little optimistic b) poorly thought out name, you may think it doesnt matter, but its like the cover of a book. If you dont put effort into that which is the first impression for most players you'll lose them within a few seconds. cs_switzerland, cs_winter, cs_eve whatever.
Ive quite badly succumbed to a) myself, my map pack for TFC was destroyed because of its filesize, noone is gonna sit throught more than 15 meg for your average map.
my god, there are newbies mapping for counterstrike source? next you'll tell me the pope has declared his catholisism by proving that bears shit in the woods
I made a killBOWL once just to be spiteful, it was a giant hollow half-sphere full of zombies, fire and lots of death. I dont think anyone actually played it because it was too complicated not being a box with every nme and weapon on a table.
God this thread brings back memories of me being a crazy leftist at uni, I couldnt be more different within a year, though saying that I'm hardly a republican now.
and laughs, laughs maniacally. It does get on my nerves when I see these things slapped around for one ceo's bad decision many years ago that no longer really is associated with the company today. Anyway, Kraft is much bigger, attack them you bloody hippies.
