in Rooms (mini co-op project) Post #276251
Downloading!
Edit: Starwars credits were awesome, albeit a bit long. It's a nice song, but there is too much time with nothing onscreen at the end.

2nd Edit: That bonus map... Something has to be done about that room with the spiral. It causes some god awful fps drops if you face it's general direction from ANYWHERE in the map. I bet simply not having a pulsing light shine on it will fix the problem. Use a normal light instead.
Maybe that's just because it wasn't compiled with full vis, but even so...

I still don't like that you can die in the first map. Sure, it's funny as hell falling into the abyss yelling "SHIIIIIIIIiiii..." but after you die and have to restart the game, it's just like... wat.

I propose keeping the shiiiii- but teleporting the player and giving them a message about how much they fail. Or at least, have an autosave after the fake loading screen.

Also, I feel it'd be best if the credits returned the player to the main room instead of just ending the game. There's a chance the player will check he credits before some of the other features (players like myself), and it's sort of a nuisance to have to restart the whole game.

in how to make red spots in radar? Post #276250
This doesn't happen in 1.6. Your players must be confused from Source.

The next best thing is to have a game_text that shows up on screen, under the radar, when a player enters a bomb site.
Potatis_Invalid made an example map of how to do this: http://twhl.co.za/vault.php?map=5171

Meh, you can just snap to the grid in Milkshape and precise brushwork gets a lot easier.
Fun fact by the way: One unit in Milkshape = One unit in Hammer

Purely coincidental, but I thought this was sort of interesting.

The main theme of Up bears resemblance to a short piano song from the Elfen Lied soundtrack.
Well I thought they sounded similar, at least.
They're even in the same key.

Am I allowed to do this?

Saw Up over my Thanksgiving break.
Man, you know what? The first 10 minutes were incredible like any review will tell you, but it really doesn't deserve all the praise it's getting.

The villian is so forced, I mean he was only a villain so that the movie would have a bad guy. And an army of talking dogs and a gimmicky high-pitched tough-guy dog that can fly planes? I mean there were plenty of clever laughs, but there was also way too much slapstick [and not enough story] after Carl and Russel started pulling the house.
So aside from the great opening, it's a kid's movie through and through.

Still can't find that Russian movie...

Edit:
Think about how hl3 will be, of course the editor will be a WYSIWYG in my opinion. But that will be long time in the future.
We might not have to wait that long. L4D and L4D2 rely more on model props than any Source game I've seen before. The maps are almost entirely build from props.

I don't want a lot of extraneous buttons on the keyboard, and I don't want to install drivers for keyboards.
The keyboard I use has media player controls and the light button, that's hardly a lot of extraneous buttons. All those extraenous keys are secondary functions of the standard keys, and only if you tell the keyboard to enable said functions.
I can even see volume control button on the keyboard you're looking at, and being Logitech, it'll probably come with some drivers.

Indeed.
To reiterate: for a model to be lit properly in Goldsrc, there must be a world brush under it's origin. Sky brushes don't count, and the brush doesn't have to cover the entire area of the model (only the origin).

We actually have sufficient evidence to say that the universe isn't in an infinite cycle, and that it will continue to expand forever :)

Edit: Strike that. It'll only work if you can't access your wall all the time.

Quite puzzling, assuming the names do match up properly.

Have you checked to make sure the texture will change, period? EG: just slapping it on a brush?

Edit: +A should replace +1, not +0. All animated textures have to start with +0.

in Black lines at texture edges Post #275875
If those are two separate textures, try moving the top texture's alignment down 1, and then shave off 2 units from the top of the brush.

That ought to get rid of both lines, even if it leaves a hard-to-see misalignment. You should be fine.

in Black lines at texture edges Post #275871
This is a known issue with OpenGL rendering in Goldsrc games (and in Source too, apparently).

The pixels of the texture blend together in OpenGL, so if the bottom of the texture is full while the top is transparent, the bottom pixels blend into the top.

The solution is either:
1. Shift the texture alignment up 1 unit
2. Or make the bottom of the texture transparent

Edit: The reviews are so far behind, I'm not sure it's even possible to completely catch up with a handful of people doing a review whenever they feel like doing one.

Just saw The Boat that Rocked.

5/10

I probably would have enjoyed it a hell of a lot more if the previews weren't so damn misleading.
This is a completely plotless movie. There's a premise, but absolutely no story is told and it's fucking long at 2 hours and 15 minutes.

It's more of a slice-of-life movie, and I feel it would have fared much better as a short TV series. Also, the entire movie would have been ten times better if they left out the British government all together, because it had absolutely nothing to do with the boat.

Funny, just not what I expected.

Edit: and most of the characters were unforgivably flat.

Mad Max: Badass with a stronger plot than...
Mad Max 2: Badass classic with cool atmosphere but completely noncanonical to the first. Certainly better than...

Use the VM tool for this, not the clip tool.
A good rule of thumb is to move your vertex half the distance of the width of the side you want to attach the diagonal brush to. The diagonal brush will be roughly the same width as your other brushes if you do this.
(EG: If that brush is 10 units wide, move the vertex over 5 units)
I see yours was 9, so I'd just round it off.
