Well, pro lighting isnt direct light its usually filtered or reflected. Aluminium umbrellas and light trough paper.

I liked the shot, but lighting was a tag bit bad xD

If you don't have a good flash, try taking pictures in a well lit area since flash will just bounce off smooth surfaces and cause bad reflection. Also cool old camera.

The textures in rooms.wad is from Blazeer's Asian pack. Also that Japanese rooms map is very good, i like it, its what inspired me to start this project in the first place xD

Try switching the slots for the drive.

Move it up or down a PCI slot.

Some times it wont detect on one slot (implies damaged MB).

Also what bios do you have? Actually what MB do you have?

Its marked as "Add on cards" on Gigabyte MBs. So search in the BOOT order part and move the "Add on cards" to the 1st slot.

LOL! Those snipers are insane at close range, i can shoot with out the need of its special function aka crosshair at close range with out missing. Especially with G3/SG1.

And getting 5000 to buy one is 3 rounds of saving.

Awp is one shot one kill (most of the time), but this can eliminate a group of people in one clip. Thats why its banned on every normal public server.

You should add stats.amxx and roundstats.amxx It shows who has most kills, who did how much damage, how much damage you recieved, how much hp does your killer have left, etc etc. Plus it has TOP15 function and rank function.

[Edit] From my server:

; Configuration
statscfg.amxx ; allows to manage stats plugins via menu and commands

; Counter-Strike
;restmenu.amxx ; restrict weapons menu
statsx.amxx ; stats on death or round end (CSX Module required!)
miscstats3.amxx ; bunch of events announcement for Counter-Strike
stats_logging.amxx ; weapons stats logging (CSX Module required!)

Also restricting automated snipers is a good thing (SG550 and G3/SG1). Especially you should restrict G3/SG1 since its a bug sniper, when it shoots you you cant move, too over powered.

Well, its about ingenuity :D

16000 U^3 map would be a pretty awesome challenge. We (mappers) now have the tools to do it, how will we do it is up to us.

But it still needs testing, how does the engine handle such large maps and objects, i can assume that 16000 U^3 , which is 2x the original maximum, is pretty safe to map in, since it didn't show any major errors till >4096 from center (spray logo error / use decalfrequency 0).

Well using clip on complex stuff, lets say:

you have a detailed structure that the player doesnt need to touch, and it has 46 faces total, covering it with clip brush will create 6 instead of 46 faces that can be touched.

So with clip you can reduce clipnode number by at least 3x or more.

Okay, so i have been searching the net and some Russian sites. Knowing how Russians love to make BIG stuff i wasn't surprised in finding a hammer editor modification that supports a 32000 x 32000 x 32000 units map!

I have only tested the length of the map. I have created an RMF which is in 9300 units from center long.

At first, my CS could not go over 8196 units from center all thou it rendered the block behind it. There was some kind of an invisible wall blocking me, plus the spray logos i did on distance >4096 from the center appeared in the center! Must be some engine bug due to map being over limit.

After that i have tried it in half life by replacing the delta.lst. Half life allowed me to go all the way to the block.

So im guessing with out modification of delta.lst half life can safely go up to 16000 x 16000 x 16000. But more wont allow the player to pass, could maybe be used as scenery area? I dunno.

So im posting this here for you people to see and test.

Yeah that sounds right, ive been searching for source protection methods, it consists out of 3 popular methods:

1. no_decomp 1 // Added to light_enviroment entity using SMART ED off
2. tools/locked texture // Applied to any non-culled face in the map
3. And a protector entity
  • For more info PM me i will give you all about source i found.
So im guessing HL has some kind of a special texture or a command.
Or maybe the protection is applied after compilation, implemented into the BSP file using some program or something.

I really don't know. Any help from elder members will be appreciated :D

Hmm that sounds right. But if decompilers choke on it, than how come the compiler tools can compile it?

I think its some kind of an entity.

But geometry sounds much more reasonable because some times i keep getting errors like these:

And crafty, nems map viewer, keeps reporting over 40 000 polygons in some areas. Who knows how much there really are, maybe the hammer cant handle that much?

This happened to me too once, but ive got an error, something like:

can not open RMF version v1.0.1

Its not correct but i know hammer didnt want to open the RMF.

Try editing the MAP file, remove what you added the latest in it (lines of text which determine solids) < very hard

Also it might just be that the hammer F-ed up the map while saving.

Rename the mapname.rmx to mapname.rmf (copy it as well).

Ok so, i wish to make an info thread with all there is to know about Decompile and decompile protection, how to by pass it and how to implement it.

But i know very very little about this.

I know for decompiler apps, quite few of them actually:

WinBSC 1.2
WinBSC 1.4 kingpin update
BspTWOmap
matchstick 1.0.1
BSP viewer
Crafty
and some other that are not worth mentioning

Crafty and winbsc are the most acurate and can decompile up to 80% of maps you tell em to.

BspTWOmap can decompile 100% of maps and extract WAD files (witch every one wants :D ), but wall tickness is 1 unit and some maps can not be opened at all. Now i suspect those maps have "protection".

What i want to learn is how to implement protection, how does it work, can it be removed and are there any more decompilers.

I think this can be quite useful for mappers.

PS - I do not want to steal maps :/

I cant work because jobs are hard to find, plus ive learned to live with out the "extra" cash.

Well, i look at it like this: Its a game.
Lots of people play it, and every one where i live pirates it, so it isnt something we would consider bad, since the game is very old.

The thing is, pirated or not, i jsut want to play with you guys :(

Non steam P48 has a steam ID, but it runs with out the steam client.
