If you just want to play it over a LAN, you can still download CS 1.5 for free on some sites. Won't support all maps due to lack of Steam's features, but it'll work for 98 percent of them.

Despite all the effort that I've put into this mod, and the content I already have made, I'm thinking if just quitting. I can't really see myself working on this anymore, what with my own mod finally getting off the ground, and me being so wrapped up with school. This mod's files have just been sitting here on my hard drive unused for months. I've gotta be honest, I want to dedicate my free time to my own projects, not this...and I don't think there's room for both.

Well...what can I say...it certainly looks like a first map! However, you didn't really need to post these to validate your reason for being here. You should ideally have just waited until you could make a worthwhile map to post anything, because nobody's really interesting in first maps. No worries, you'll improve.

I think it's 300 GB... but that doesn't matter, it's the bandwidth and processing power you're paying for. Companies can afford to give you ridiculous amounts of space if they don't actually allow you to use it to its fullest. I'd much rather pay for ten gigabytes of space over 300 GB if they allowed you to use a bunch of their processing power, and they didn't limit your bandwidth to obscene amounts. I'm on a machine that's hosting a ton of other people, and we all have to share the same resources.

And anyway, you payed 6 dollars for a month, not a year, right? 100 dollars is the single payment for one full year of hosting, which ends up being about 8 dollars per month.

Hmm... I payed 100 bucks to get one year's worth of hosting at Bluehost, and now I'm not even going to use it. Ultra fail on my part.

I might consider this.

No... my point was, with a line like that, you'd have to change it to "three days" tomorrow, "four days" the day after tomorrow, and so on. It's not a dated journal entry or something, so the ambiguous "two days ago" could be any time at all. :)

Meh...you might learn that models don't play a significant enough role in GoldSrc for it to matter much whether you see them in the editor. That's why I still use 3.4. Most people don't use them for small items and details much, they just use brushes.

But you still can't see the models unless you actually have them, which you don't.

Oh, yeah. That's not an error, that's how it's supposed to be unless you're using Hammer 3.5 and it's set up correctly with the models and everything. You will need the game with its content to do see models in the 3D view. Until then, nothing you can do about it.

P.S. Also, they're mostly not sprites, they're models. ;)

I don't really watch TV, although I've been known to download portions of Top Gear on YouTube and have watched the entirety of Futurama on my computer.

I just saw No Country for Old Men at the theatre, and before that, The Mist. No Country for Old Men was incredible. The Mist, not so much, but for a movie adaption it was decent.

in batch compiling question Post #239167
Shameless plugs, etc. abound in this thread.

Anyway, not being able to get -wadinclude to work doesn't determine whether you're cut out for mapping. All that's required is an active imagination. If you don't have that at all, then yeah, I'd consider another hobby. :)

in batch compiling question Post #239137
For future reference, this is the place for anything related to GoldSrc and Source engine development, or just Half-Life related stuff in general. Hell, it doesn't even need to be Half-Life related, or computer related, apparently. You can't go wrong asking ANYTHING here, so long as it's in the correct section (and don't worry, this thread is.)

But as for your question, all you need to do is either add a simple parameter in Hammer, or enter the WAD name into a text field with Nem's Batch Compiler.

For Hammer, click the compile button, and highlight the compile command for CSG by clicking it. Now in the CSG parameters box, after all the other text, type in "-wadinclude egypt", without the quotes. Do NOT type "-wadinclude egypt.wad". You just need the name of the WAD, not the extension! For every WAD you include, you'll need to type another "-wadincude" followed by the name of the WAD.

For Nem's Compiler, it's a lot simpler. Under the CSG tab, there are eight different text fields that say "WAD File" and have a tickable box beside each of them. Just tick a box and browse for the desired WAD you wish to include, or type the name of it in manually. If you type the name of the WAD in, make sure you DO put the ".wad" extension on the end of the name. I don't actually know if this is necessary, but that's how it does it when you browse for the WAD, so I'd just go with that. Do this for every different WAD you wish to include.

That's basically a whole tutorial on wadincluding, although condensed. Do everything here and I guarantee it'll work fine.
