Well.. Ant's points are correct.

1. Get out of that habit. It can't be too hard.
2. It's shit easy to make a decent looking map in Source. I've seen first maps that'd rival maps made by experts. Your comment does seem to refer to a lack of skill on your behalf.
3. What the hell are you talking about?
4, 5 and 6. Steam doesn't make much of a difference. Sure, it might take a minute longer. Who cares? If you can't wait a minute, you are an impatient fool.

That's my 2 cents. :

The Hunter, just so you know, I know that it is unbelievably frustrating. I know from experience. All my maps were rated down to 1 star by Anonymous. I disabled ratings, very angrily that my good ratings had been changed and some retard abused the right to rate maps.

Just disable them, and ignore them. Ratings mean nothing. Just look out for comments, they are more important. :)

I wouldn't go as far as calling it horrible, but it seems kinda thoughtlessly made, random, and undetailed. But it isn't horrible, especially compared to the other rubbish maps coming out. :/

I loved it.... I thought it was bloody brilliant. The T spawn absolutely rocked. I think it is probably the 2nd best official CS:S map (behind Office) - And I'm glad, as Office and Train were both my favourite maps.

Compound was completely gay though.

Very disappointing.

Can someone point me to a relyable source where it says the results are due out on the 28th?

I think a good replacement for a crowbar could be.. like a piece of wood to hit things with? From like... a fence or something?

We should have the player only being able to use 1 melee weapon at a time, make it droppable, and have all other potential melee weapons pickupable. That way the player must way up the pros and cons of each melee weapon, and get the one he/she likes best.

I must say that I feel this mod MUST have a shotgun. Perhaps we could find a little abandoned shack somewhere with a dead guy (Father Grigory perhaps?) on the floor, and a shotgun. There is nothing better than using a shotgun against zombehz. ;o

Also, if we have a chainsaw, is it possible to make each limb chop-offable (like in Monty Python's the Holy Grail with the black night ;D)? It'd be damn cool, and would make it so much harder to kill.

Just my current ideas... :)

If you are interested in making a dam like setting, I recommend checking out Agent Smith's DM_Hydro. Wonderful map, and it seems to have some architecture you might want to examine.

That looks perfectly achievable in hammer, but I dunno about the water effects.

'doesn't sound like friendly banter to me' - Sounds like it to me ;) I was only joking, and IT WAS friendly banter as IEMC and I would understand, but you wouldn't since you don't know either of us.

The only person I have honestly 'attacked' was Anonymous - And guess what? The whole fucking community hated him, so I wasn't alone.

Just shut the hell up and stop accusing me, and I think YOU should grow up.

Back to the topic, I though ZombieLoffe was 1337, just coz he had a cool av. ;)

It seems you take it seriously.
Stop attacking people. It's childish, annoying, and otherwise completely useless.

I do remind people that this isn't to make maps, it's to help writing tutorials. ;)

We do plan for it to be quite a large community, and yes, we need to generate a lot of interest. ;o

This site IS going to happen, no chance it'll fail really. We already have the site. :)

It is HL2 - But we could use peoples expertise on game design, since that is a large part of HL2 mapping, and doesn't really differ from game to game. We'll contact the people we are interested in. In the mean time, keep posting. ;)

As a Staff member of an upcoming HL2 Editing site, I would like to inform you that we are currently interested in potential helpers. The staff consists of RabidMonkey, Hugh, Anthony, and myself.

We are looking for people to write articles on many aspects of HL2 mapping. We are intending to have some of the most detailed tutorials currently available on the internet, and have realised that it is too much work for the four current Staff members.

We are looking for experienced and decent mappers who have the ability to write articles and tutorials to the standard in which we intend to achieve. We have been discussing possible people, and we came to the decision that it would be best to post here, judge the response, and then contact the people who we think fit the description of what we need.

The people we have been discussing are mature, respected, and excellent mappers. I shall keep the names to myself, but if you think of yourself of mature and able to write articles and contribute to the community, please express your interest.

Please post here if you are interested, as we will be considering only people who reply, as you are not contacting us - we are contacting you. Please leave your contact details when posting, for our convenience.

Thank you. :)

Exactly - there are about 50 million different maps out there with the exact same gameplay as each other.

Even if the look good (like Striders CS:S map, I forget the name), they still play the same, and are really boring. I really don't like them.

Australia is the driest continent on the Earth (apart from Antarctica, but who really gives a shit about them) and we are currently in a bad drought.

It frequently gets above 40 in the Australian summer, and the lowest it gets in winter would be about 8 (in the middle of the night).
