Ok, an update.

We've decided that we're gonna go for a multiple theme thing. So far, we have three themes planned: a Classic TWHL (so it'll look the same as it does now essentially) a New Classic (which is a more subtle and more attractive re-working of the TWHL theme) and a brand new, as yet un-named (and undesigned) theme that won't resemble the style of the current TWHL at all.

I wasn't here.

On that note, if you kids want to play up and act retarded, I'll just ban the lot of you.

Hell, if we only have two members left after a ban run who actually want to map, use our resources and not act in a way that would embaress a three year old, then TWHL will stay online. I'll continue to work with those two members to bring TWHL back to a time that I personally prefered.

There's a serious problem here with you, Orpheus, as well as some other select members who have decided to voice their opinions in this thread. Either you all get your act together, or I'll just ban you all. Oh, and Orpheus, please don't reply with a condescending and smug post that somehow ridicules my actions and behaviour as a mod.

To the rest of you: don't post smart ass replies or you'll face punishment.

End of story. You all fail. I hope you're happy.

Strideh my dear boy, if you're gonna bitch then don't enter.

Glass didn't exactly a huge amount of possibilities either, considering that basically all you could do with it was make it transparent and make it shatterable, yet we had a wide range of entries.

You can easily accentuate the water element in whatever locale you've chosen. Surely the mappers here are creative enough to figure something out.

I personally consider this to be similar to the glass compo. Just use your damn imaginations.

Ok guys, we've kinda gone all out with this compo. For a start, custom content for both engines is now allowed, but you can't add any new coding.

Secondly, pay heed to this:
All maps submitted must include a readme file describing which game it is for. If hosting your map remotely and uploading a link with the form, this readme must be included with the actual map
If you don't include a readme, then you will be disqualified. Yes, disqualified. We've extended the deadline for the compo as well, as we believe it's a fun one that everyone can participate in. As mentioned in the news article, if we get a poor turnout, we will suspend compos until TWHL3 is ready to roll, and that won't be for a while.

Get mapping!

The WAD files are all packed into the GCF files, which are kinda like ZIP files (or the old PAK files from the WON days). You'll need GCFScape (Google for it) to extract the WAD files.

Graphics aren't everything. I do believe the PSP proved that, and then some. The DS is currently kicking its ass all over the world, and that's got the same power as a Nintendo 64 (maybe even less). Methinks innovation is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

The Wii's backward compatibility isn't anywhere near as good as Sony's, considering that their entire catalogue of games from the PS1 and the PS2 are compatible with the PS3.

The only thing I care about is that the PS3 is getting its ass handed to itself and boy am I laughing hard.

Multiple stylings was talked about ages ago, but for the time being, we want to concentrate on the main theme and actually getting something up: we need drastic improvements to the admin system, so different colour schemes isn't a priority atm, considering the current colours don't hinder one's navigation/readibility.

The site will be layed out better though, I can assure you that.

Point is, we have to do extra shit to get it to render properly. This is what standards are for, ffs.

As for the colour scheme: if it were up to me entirely, I'd scrap the current colour scheme altogether. However, the colours are generally 'friendly' and they are also a part of TWHL, so we're going for an update instead. As for the 'wasted grey space': TWHL currently renders without the need for a horizontal scroll on 800w resolutions. We will be widening it slightly, but not by much.
