Don't ever use that song again, Striker. EVER. Every fucking time I hear "let the bodies hit the floor", I close the video.
That's got to be one of the most overused songs and I'm fucking sick of hearing it.

Do Australians have commercials for "American Cuisine" featuring fat guys driving land barges and talking in awful mock-redneck accents?
I would love to see this.

Foolish me for not checking if Australia was even listed under "countries served". That makes the entire thread stupid.

in Strange browser problem Post #268520
I run weekly scans, offline and in safe mode. This problem has persisted over 2 PCs.
If it's background software, the creator did a damn good job keeping it hidden. I was thinking more along the lines of the problem being linked to an advertisement or some broken java script.

All right, this has been going on for years, and I'm tired of it.

Sometimes whilst surfing the internets, my connection will seemingly just drop out for a few minutes (long enough to time out and reset). But I don't actually lose my connection, just my ability to load web pages.
I can still use instant messengers and can still play games online over Steam.

When I get back "online", my instant messenger will lose it's connection for a second before automatically reconnecting, and everything works again.

All browsers are affected when this happens [IE, FF, and Chrome], not just my primary [Opera]. It happens almost exclusively (and seemingly randomly) when I'm browsing FPS Banana, but it has happened elsewhere.
Googling hasn't helped me. Every result that comes up is someone who has actually lost their connection (or at least, a lot of people who think they've lost their connection).

in MOTM winners are all winning for June 20 Post #268508
Having a direct link to all eligible MOTM submissions on the map vault page is about as easy as you can make it. It's right there with its own, special icon when you click on the map vault.
What more do you want? I click the eligible maps almost every time I check the vault.

All the new MOTM winners aren't getting "trophies" for their corresponding months, they're getting "trophies" for June 2009.
I thought it was worth noting.

I couldn't grab the pistol/ammo that opened up after activating the menu. Also, the menu didn't take me anywhere.

If you don't like having the player shoot the menu, you could try using a mortar and have the player scroll through the menu. Perhaps have the menu be the mortar interface, and have a big "GO!" button that trigger it. Then somewhere else, the mortar could bomb a button that triggers whatever the player has selected.

Edit: Please don't let the player die if they fall off the platform. That's just irritating.

This works, ive done it, but my Hammer for some reason shits itself when i use a model, as soon as i close the properties windown Hammer crashes...
The same thing has been happening to me for years with the HL fgd. I just use cyclers in Hammer as placeholders, then switch over to the CS fgd, which apparently is a-ok with cycler_sprites, and replace all the cyclers.
I've never bothered to find out why.

in Two Noob Questions... Post #268104
Don't use cycler_sprite.
that's for sprites.
Use a cycler if available (which i dont think it is for CS)
Do use cycler_sprites, but build clip brushes around them.
Don't use cyclers. They will "bleed" when you shoot them, and will change animations (if there is more than one) each time you shoot it. They also use the model's hit boxes to determine what part of the model is clipped off. This is bad because it usually results in things like leaves on a tree or bush to be impassable.
Cycler_sprites won't have any of these problems, and are perfectly suited (and widely favored) for model props.

As for your error, just make sure the path is correct.

Yep.
You can also test the sounds for each room type by using the console command "room_type 1,2,3,etc" to find which effect sounds best without compiling your map over and over.

Valve probably decided that it would be pointless to release more DLCs for L4D because now that they released the SDK there would be masses of custom content, so they decided to scrap building new content for an old game and recreate the game. Thats my idea anyway...
Just like what happened to TF2 too, right? Oh wait.

The Charger looks ridiculous and the only new survivor that fits the Left 4 Dead theme is that con artist.
The charger, exactly how it looks in L4D2, was actually an extremely popular idea conceived by someone on the Steam forums to fix closet camping.

But yeah, I hope this is some kind of really elaborate joke.

Not all racing games are like that. Example: In the Need For Speed series, there's the cop chase mode, where you need to evade capture by the cops before you finish the race. My favorite are the earlier Rush games, where you have the option to take short cuts that lead to insane high jumps
All driving. When I said "all you can do is drive around", I mean you can't jump, climb, interact, or do anything else that would allow you to explore the finer intricacies of this massive world they give you. At least, not with the lack of control that comes with a vehicle.

It's a killbox. Not much to say about how it plays. At least this one has two rooms instead of one, right?

Considering the ridiculously stretched textures, obnoxiously loud and full-of-static music in the background with no way to turn off, broken geomtetry, and your choice of texturing, I'd say you've done a fantastic job of mapping something that makes me want to slaughter a kitten.

in TF2: The Sniper Update Post #267337
Grinding for a few hours is replaced by spectating for a few days. Either way, the unlockables will be "whored". People want to use them after all that hype. And when you finally do, you feel dirty for getting it because everyone else is still waiting for it.
I've seen 4 servers today that had more spectators than either team's players. The former acheivement farmers aren't even playing now. Tell me that's better than the other system.

Edit: I'm doing to exact same thing right now, and have been all day. And I couldn't give less of a shit because I want to play with those new unlockables that have been talked up for the past week.
