Right well I'm trying to keep this active so I PM'd Hunter...But he wont be on I assume for a while so he can post after the next one etc...

I'll start a new one:

Game: OP4

"Do you remember that bit where you fall into a Xen type room inside the facility and you see this light sprite that flies and leaves a trail...? How do you make that exact sprite fly from one point to the next and leave a small trail?"

This will get the brains thinking ;)

Edit Sorry didn't see above post: Answer both people.

That is basically what I'd say but I thought I'd let someone else answer...If someone could back his answer up...I'm not so sure myself.

So far really interesting, my knowledge increased by one.

Tosse your turn.

By the way people say they don't have questions but you can say something simple or you could say how do you make a cutscene where a car crashes into a pillar causing a building to fall in mass explosions with Gman laughing maniacally.

I find this thread helps people learn and show their knowledge but the best bit is adding to that knowledge.

All you need is two folders:

One in the SDK folder for the game and one in the Game folder.

My tutorial tells you where basically.

Well I noticed this place is getting dull so I thought of a thread that might add interest...

Picture this: One person posts a hammer question and the first person to say how to do it gets to think of a new one so for instance I could say:

"How do you make a certain area like lava damage you?"

And you would reply with:

"You make a brush, cover it in trigger, go to Tools, click tie to entity, choose trigger_hurt and specify damage and damage type etc."

I'll start:

I think I'll start with HL1 and the next person can choose what game whether it be HL2, TFC, OP4 etc...

HL1: How do you make an NPC say something like "Why do we have to wear these ridiculous ties!"

Enjoy.

Same because if they steal they get caught eventually.
And I feel we don't have rights in a way to block it...Sure the laws protect us and if they steal then so be it, let them feel guilty.

Besides I find it rather nice of people to steal parts of my map, obviously they think it's good :o

I've gotta agree though...Valve don't do it cause they know people learn from them...What gives you the right to block people from doing that as well...?

Honestly if people steal then they're reputation is ruined so why bother? They can't call themselves mappers.

So my point is let them...But they'll face the consequences sooner or later.

Valve released yet another puzzle website but to do with Portal instead of the last one which was for HL2.

http://www.aperturescience.com/

They made it into a Matrix type MS/DOS program, so far people have figured out a lot of things but to get you started:

Type help for a message.

Or type user and then enter a name and password portal.

Explore the B drive, answer the questions, don't bother memorizing the 64 digit code cause it changes non stop and doesn't get accepted.

Text appears randomly for a split second on pages and spells THECAKEISALIE so type that after logging in to see a camera thing and apart from that people have found a cake image:

Details here:

http://www.hlfallout.net/comments.php?id=8799&type=news&page=1

Enjoy.

Heh two ways:

1. Model a tree with a falling leaf animation
2. Perhaps use gib_shooters with a custom leaf ragdoll shoot out.

In other words no unless you can model and animate well.

You could have a custom animated texture.

Textures have names like brickwall or water0111 etc...

If it has model/brickwall then don't use it.

Silly but Hammer displays all textures even from models.

in how do I create new characters in hl2? Post #195971
Right where to begin...Anything new in HL2 is coded with C++ (A language for games like HTML but obviously different).

Now I am no expert but to solve your problem I assume you decompile the soldier, decompile the zombie, place the same bones from the zombie into the soldier and compile, then in a C++ editor you code it to use the AI perhaps by copying the actualy AI file code and pasting into the soldier then you write code to make it a seperate NPC and add it to Hammer...

This is really a guess but I'm sure I am close.

Posing in panel 3 looks weird and you could have pulled off the gag a bit better. Other then that its pretty good
Pretty short, although the quality is obiviously increasing with every issue.
Its a nice comic. Good work, i agree with Daubster about the improving quality and all.
Good posing, though he could have a teency bit more expression.

That and the gag sucked...

It is a nice small map with a grainy detail to it...I assume you PS'd the grainyness? Now if you could apply that detail in a map 3 times as big then you succeeded.
