If you go into GCFScape's options and tick "Volatile Access", you can open the GCF files with Steam running.

I agree with Rabid actually. Usually I'm in favour of two seperate compos, but it seems like allowing Source would be a good idea.
We should just have two first places, two second places, etc etc for Goldsource and Source. That way, Goldsource dudes wouldn't be competing against Source and vice versa.

Well, actually, Valve's netcode has borked up the accuracy of the weapons. It has something called "aim compensation" or something along those lines, which essentially predicts where the bullet is going to land based on latency. As such, you get some weird anamolies (i.e. headshots when the gun wasn't aiming anywhere near the head, etc).

3DMark is the premier one for graphics. The new version of it has a dedicated CPU test as well, designed to give the new dual core CPUs a workout.
I think there's also one called PCMark or something similar (made from the same team). Google for 'em and check 'em out.
