I'm sorry to say this, but it does look extremely unprofessional and the animations are very gimmicky.
#twhl peeps have taught me a lot about html and css and i'm sure you could learn a lot yourself. Notepad++ is an amazing program for webdesign. I recommend you take a look at Ant's and ZombieLoffe's sites in particular, they excell at minimalistic and practical design.
Firefox and Opera are both far more web compatible than IE, so if something works in IE better than one of those, you know you have a problem.

Generic sci-fi designs bore the crap outta' me. That first shot and the one with the Dinosaur are way too effects heavy, they look cheap. The rest of the shots are nice, though.
