DVI vs. VGA thing: depends on the monitor. Doesn't make a noticable difference on mine, but it may on some.

Crazy.

There've been a couple of instances of Freeview (UK non-subscription digital TV) decoder boxes broadcasting naval distress signals recently.

I'm sure they heard the second transmission, anyway. Are you sure it was the coastguard, and not just somebody else using the same CB frequency?

It hasn't, for most. They just have to run at whatever resolution their TV runs at. 576 x something for England. 1080 x something if you have an HDTV.
