I use both chrome and FF so i'm good with whatever.

I just learned how to use the particle editor Ive saved my particle effect and all that. But how do i go about using the effect in a map?
Is there a certain entity i need? I cant really find one.
Essentially i would like my particle effect to play once a certain event is triggered.

Light Spot's can be set to emit from sky. You could try that. Just make sure to have only one on at any given time.

As for the killtarget, try making the multimanager trigger a func_door somewhere random. Have the door's killtarget to be the target you want to die.
Set the door to delay before reset=-1

That should work. Like i said, there's always a way around it.

I say func_door, because i know there's a killtarget parameter in that entity. You can try any other plethora of entities you wish.

Copied from Half life Entity Guide:
KillTarget (killtarget) - When an entity is triggered, it will remove from the game the entity specified by this property.
Try adding a thread to the multimanager: killtarget - entity.

I've never killed anything with a multimanager, but i'm sure it can be done.
If not, there's always a way around it.

1) you can use the kill target function of some entities. Just give your illusion a name.

2) you can encase him in a clip brush?
or use a camera sequence with the 'freeze player' flag ticked.

i picked up blender pretty quick. It's nice and simple and there's HUNDREDS of hi-def video tutorials out there.
I havent gotten so far as to export anything i've made into source yet, but i've done my own bipeds and some random props i wanted to make that i havent textured yet either.
this is the one i followed for the biped tutorial.

yeah. so make a ring laser.... just make 2 trains move opposite eachother really fast. make an env_beam target both.
should work flawlessly

I highly recommend both novels. The technology included in them is both amazing and far-fetched, but just seeing what could happen with technology and video games is incredible.

And i finished the book.
Took about 12 hours on and off - 409 pages, including all the forewords and notes on author and blah blah.

Freedom - Daniel Suarez.
It's the sequel to Daemon.

Essentially, the programmer from a MMORPG dies of bran cancer and thru that unleashes a daemon that reads all the news RSS feeds and takes actions against the world economy. It has been taking out asshole businessmen "Boondock Saints" style.

First book was how it happened.
Second book is what happens after the global economy is controlled by a computer program.

I'm about 60% done with it... been reading for about 8 hours straight today. I plan on finishing tonight.

Well compo is over.
I'm sure The mod wont be finished for a while either seeing as the NEW compo started and it's a 2 month deadline.
Just got back from a vacation and i have a book to finish.
Fantastic book, btw.

After that i'm gonna work on my compo entry and just do the gruntwork behind castle disposed.

Again, so much going on :(

There's no need to edit. I played thru the series of 12. The only one i have to edit is the last one for the outro sequence. Hopefully that's the last compile for that map, but if it isn't, now i know how much time i need to allot to compile it.

Remember captain, these are disposed maps for a reason.
And the only reason i need to recompile is explicit instructions from Atom to wadinclude.

OH god.
One of The Mighty Atom's Maps has been compiling now for almost 11 hours.
On a dual core 3.2Ghz...
I woke up this morning and almost cried when it was only 75% done.

That's a sweet look.

Footprint will be 4,000 x 2,000 units max [top down view]
And multiple floors are def a plus.

A layout that allows for unlockable areas to be accessed at different times would be a plus.

Secrets places also cool :]

Well i think i have everything under control. for the most part it's just organizing level changes and the like.

Ok.. Castle disposed mini compo while we're waiting for the regular one to show up.

Compo Time!

Make a castle similar in scale to Mario 64.
Needs: Rooms and hallways, semi interesting layout - easy on the eyes.
Needs NOT: Fancy Textures.

Winner gets: Easter egg within the mod, plus you can say, "Hey, I built that castle"

If nobody enters, well, my lame-ass castle will reign.

Oh - You got a week. START!

Ok I suppose i should update y'all as to what i have done and what i'm working on.
hotdog's map - done / implemented
captain terror's map - done / implemented
The Mighty Atoms's MOD - fixed, done, implemented
skals' map pack - done, will implement after TMA's is complete.

What i need to do now, is make one giant wad from the slew of wads i have received, and go back into each level and re-texture everything by replacing the names and all that junk. What a pain.
After that, well i still have my work cut out for me because i need to re-make the castle. As it stands it's very blah, and it doesn't really have any room for growth.
I'm sure there's more im missing but it's coming together

Because i started work on it again.
After i graduated from College, i thought i would have all the time in the world to work on this.
Even though currently, i'm unemployed, i've been working every day on some other stuff. I've applied to countless places and have had about 5 interviews, (2 i'm still waiting to hear back from that seemed promising)
I'm taking another class to get my boating and PWC (personal water craft) certificate.
I tutor my cousin in algebra, our house had water damage so i've been in the attic sorting through everything making sure we can keep some things and not throw everything out.
There have been other household projects as well- new light posts in front yard - Gotta dig trenches, lay piping, insulate it all, make sure the breaker is off so i don't electrocute myself - dig more holes, lay concrete ect ect. Throw into the mix the slew of other graduation parties and birthday parties and what not.

So these are all just excuses.
Another reason is i just plain forgot.
The band is back together as well, and we're 3 songs away from finishing our second album which is looking incredibly promising. We've been booking shows left and right.

So

I need to revamp this whole project.
I'm gonna get all the triggers working and grouped together in the first level.
After that's done then i'll make it look pretty.

What i'm going to need from the community is a castle:

Something large and explorable - Something along the lines of Super Mario 64. Needs a front gate, separate rooms, corridors, secret passages, anything.
I have a light to install on top a light post, and a book to read, and i have class at 7:00PM. It's currently 10:00AM, so i have almost all day to work on this - and i don't have any plans for tomorrow.

Keep the faith skals.

More excuses:
I moved the entire project to an older computer. It's no longer a link to my desktop. But hammer 4 seems to like windows 7 again, so back to this computer it goes!

@ Grim, sorry i did not have those ideas a week ago. :(
I felt that map a dream had a strong following, but it's impossible to implement properly due to the generic nature of dreams.
Since the following dropped off, i figured I'll just open a reply for a few hours and type any new idea that came to me - (or my girlfriend, she helped)

Map an RPG - Role playing game (Easier in source, yes, but still a challenge in both engines)
