I love Goldsource, but I never understood the point in all the effort people put in to making it use features similar to Source when they can use... well... Source.

As far as I'm aware (and I could be very wrong since I don't use Source) you'd be better off rebuilding since all your entities, props and models etc will be incompatible.

We're still completing all the websites we can but I am attending interviews starting tomorrow. Regardless of how that one goes I will be finishing at the current place next Friday, as they cannot guarantee payment after that and I can't afford to waste petrol money driving for an hour each day for no money.

I will map as and when I can but I have started removing mods and other bits from the work PC. I'll work on the DM map to the bitter end and then maybe bring it home to work on whenever.

Maybe... maybe. :sarcastic:

Seems I have a time limit to get this done now. The company I work for has announced that they are closing. Seems I am now redundant. :(

Thanks.

I'm thinking of using this modern style for the penultimate chapter of The Core. Modern interior design style with focus walls for a splash of colour. Should make for interesting lighting too with Vluzacn's tools. :D

HLDM update

Did another hour or so of mapping today. No new media as I ran out of time to compile and now I have a sad face.

The textures aren't just solid colour. They have a very slight grunge overlay. The dark trims are also wooden.

Mirror's Edge?
No. I just added some colours that weren't grey or brown. Also, Mirror's Edge tends to stick to 2 tone colour schemes.

If you're wanting to run modern or upcoming games then a laptop isn't going to cut it. It'll be out of date within the year and mobile graphics cards are usually total arse.

About 3 years ago I got my missus a "gaming" laptop which she could also use for Uni. In the end, she used it for Uni. It was just short of £7.99 and would just about run HL2. Oblivion and The Sims 2 caused it to overheat...

Very nice work Dimbark. Has a nice classic Half-Life feel to it. A lot of things like that popping up again at the moment and I love it. :D

Opposing Force and Blue Shift are really good sources of inspirational mapping. Sure Valve knows their stuff, but Gearbox really blinged out their maps. :D

No offense, but the PSP's history should have tipped you off about the Vita's future.

The future of gaming will never lie with the hand held consoles and developers need to get that into their heads.

I'm guessing a lot. No way that shit could be dynamic, especially the pileup containing the mark. Either the pileup is scripted as soon as you hack the lights, or if you don't hack them in time you fail the mission.

Open your Steam games library right now. Go on. Just do it!

Right, now look through your titles, like, some of the ones you feel you play the most. Then look at a few others. You might be surprised, I know I was.

Then post up here where you thought most of your time would lie, and what surprised you. :P

I was thinking Half-Life would be well up there, what with me working on The Core and being a ProGoldsource guy in general. However, it's sitting at a fairly meager 55 hours.

I figured it would be higher than the counter-strike series anyway, seeing as I'm not a big cs player. CS1.6 and CS:GO beta are fairly close to one another at 12 and 11 hours respectively and CS:S is just... 179 HOURS!? I have considered however, that a lot of this could be testing Archie's maps, dicking around with bots and whatever else. Still, 179 hours accounts for a whole fuckton of dicking.

Then there are the obvious time black holes, the free-roaming RPGs. Fallout 3 was not on purchased on Steam but I know that's way up there. New Vegas is at 189 Hours, Skyrim at 170... Fuck. Not counting Fallout 3 that's already over 2 weeks of my life sunk into Bethesda titles. Sad thing is, I'm yet to finish either of those games, and I need to start the Mass Effect series after that...

Anyway, that pretty much covers the major ones. A lot of my other games are sitting around the 30 hour mark and then there are the bottom feeders, some because I just don't feel like playing them and others because I haven't got round to it yet.

Worms reloaded - 8 hours
Duke Nukem Forever - 11 Hours (and never likely to move from that spot ever)
TF2 - 13 Hours
Operation Flashpoint RR: 4 Hours
Just Cause 2: 2 Hours
Metro 2033 - 59 minutes

Seems I need to finish the games I've got rather than complain about the new ones I can't afford... What's that? E3 starts on the 5th? Fuck.

tl;dr - I play a lot of games, now get out of this thread.

I don't see the issue here either. The map vault and forum are just 2 separate elements of the site. People have the right to chose the one or the other or both if they wish.

Imagine if imgur wouldn't let you post an image without rating or commenting on 10 others first. You'd just get a fuck ton of spam posts.
