I think when Tosse brought up how religious people have a better chance of survival, he was talking about how they either accept their fate or believe that their higher power will heal them. And that kind of positive attitude has, in fact, been proven to increase the survival rate in patients.

Are you seriously suggesting that the sole reason evil exists in the world today is becauseof the American government?
No. Shut up, that's stepping over the line. Where the fuck do you get the nerve to bash America like that?! You can bring up Prison Planet or other bullshit sites to back you up on small attacks that actually make sense, but to go so far as to say that America, alone, is the reason evil exists in today's world is completely unacceptable.
You keep bashing and bashing but you've done NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I never see you post anything that regards something you've done, or something you've started to do. Instead you've been posting your rejected theories time and time again on a website where nobody ever agrees with you. You are never open to debate, you always assume that what you say is absolute. No, you're worse than that, actually, because you don't even think for yourself. You never come up with your own theories, you just take whatever sounds good to you form what you hear elsewhere and force it onto other people.
Ok then, Jahzel, you win. Say we're all ignorant fucks here, Jahzel. Say you're the better man; I'm sure when we all die in miserable ignorance you'll be on top of the world ruling everything, right?! You'll be the head honcho, because you just know fucking everything. You're such a fucking genious that you could just wipe out the mere existence of ignorance with the snap of your fingers, right? Where's your actions to back up your words, Jahzel? I want to see you start a movement! PUT YOUR GOD DAMN, STOLEN, BULLSHIT THEORIES INTO ACTION AND MAKE A CHANGE! OTHERWISE GET THE FUCK OUT, BECAUSE I'M FUCKING SICK OF YOUR HYPOCRISY

But its also potentially true. Its a wild and seemingly absurd statement, but hell, what if? What if 2 seconds ago some insane guitar player ripped it up and pulled te greatest guitar solo out of his ass? The awesomeness of his solo created vibration in the space-time continuum and ultimately created this little planet, Earth, inhabited by billions of creatures, humans, all created with these memories of the past, which never really happened because they were created 2 seconds ago.

What do you think caused the physical world to come into existence, Hunter? The big bang, maybe? What the fuck, how illogical is that? A giant explosion that somehow creates an entire, perfect, infinite universe? Oh right, it can be backed up by saying its one big bang after another, but really. What are the odds that we exist in this one universe created out of the virtually infinite that have preceeded us? Are those odds so definite, so in your favor, that you would say that its more likely that the big bang happened than, say, a superbeing simply calling a universe into existence?

See what I'm getting at here? You can't base theories like this on logic, its one of the very few things that absolutely defies all human logic. But you're sitting here telling us that if we believe these other things, then we're wrong because it doesn't make logical sense to you. Again, it's no better than a religion trying to force their ideals onto others. If anything, it's worse, because it makes you hypocritical.

Some religions belive that it is right to kill people from other religions while christianity says "Thou shall not kill." Period.
Sorry but I have to correct you on this. Thou shall not murder is the commandment. War and the like are exceptions. God orders killings all the time, as is evident from the text cited by Loffe here.
I just had to point that out :)
Anyway, where's Jahzel on all this> I thought for sure he would be going mad crazy with the conspiracies by now.

Hunter, that's such a narrow outlook on things. Who defines common sense? Human? What the fuck do humans know? Moreover, what the fuck do humans know about what humans know?
You should really open your mind to the possibility that maybe there really is more out there. Like I said before, part of believing, nay, knowing is being able to consider that you might be wrong. Nobody is forcing you to believe that there is something there, but at least be open to the concept.
I mean really. The way you just outright say that you, in fact, know for sure that religion is a bunch of bullshit is just as bad as someone telling you that religion is absolute. You can't dispprove the non-existence of something.
In the grand scheme of things, your beliefs are just as likely as anyone else's. Tosse is right, it really is just just as likely that this theory of thetans is the truth. Its also just as likely that Allah is the true god, and that muslims are right. And even further, String Theory tells us that all these beliefs are simultaneously correct because of the multiverse.
Open your mind and explore the possibilities

I don't think an increasing amount of people are taking wild fiction over science these days. Scientology has definitely grown a lot, but that isn't representative of the world as a whole.

This is why I am a such a fan of string theory. Even though its science, you can pretty much place any given religion into it logically, and it will fit :D
A real problem with any religion is that the followers of each one believe that their way is the right way. If you believe so, some will fight for it. Like crusades and jihads or the like.
Hey man, believe what you will and let others do the same. Its a philosophy to live by. You can't know, you can only believe, and to truly believe is to be open to the idea that you can be wrong :)

Its more than a matter of money and intellect to the "higher thetans" in Scientology. People's lives are turned to garbage because of this crap. I'm talking about those in opposition to it, not the ones giving money to the church. And it isn't uncommon for opposers to be killed.

Unless I'm mistaken, the orange box will be available over Steam as well as retail, so I don't understand why they wouldn't be available individually. HL2, CSS, and DODS could all be bought in a pack, or one by one, so I guess it's kinda the same scenario here.
As for consoles, nobody gives a fuck.

You can also give the water a nice ripple effect by using 3 layered brushes, one func_water and two func_conveyors, for the water. Have the func_conveyors move 90 degrees apart, then put them, and the func_water, on the same Z coordinates(AKA inside each other). It helps to use the same exture for both water and conveyor, but that requires custom textures.

in Hl2 water effects in goldsource Post #232409
If you're using Spirit, you can use env_shine for simple reflections. A good way to have semi-realistic reflections is to take a screenshot of the map from the point of reflection(IE: the water's "point of view"), convert the screenshot to a sprite(resized of course), and use that screenshot as your reflection sprite.

As for the fog, just make the initial func_water and stack layers of a transparent brush with a dark texture under it.

Monster_generic doesn't work with Counter Strike, and cyclers "bleed" when you shoot them.
Most people go with a cycler_sprite, and set the sprite path to a model. Be sure to clip off the model, though, because it won't be solid.

When using vertex manipulation to wrap brushes around a cylinder or something, which method is better?
A) http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/6113/utopium1le4.jpg
B) http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/475/utopium2qi9.jpg
I've always used method B because its much neater in Hammer. But method A would only draw 9 polygons ingame, whereas method B would draw 16. Still, something about A just seems nasty and unwanted.

I've never worked with poly elements or that fancy 3DS Max stuff. I always do poly by poly modelling in good ol' MS3D :P
Am I missing something? because I don't understand how welding those verts could increase the polygon count. The only thing that would happen, as far as I know, would be a reduction of vertices because the faces using those verts would just use connected verts instead. How do more faces result from welding verts, that's never happened to me :zonked:
Edit: Are poly elements what people use to make both a high-poly and low-poly mesh for something?
