Kasperg: Dunno about that, there's a few...

Even though some may be func_walled, it's still good practice to work as if they aren't. :)

Been a while since I messed with Wally. Not sure if my idea will be impressive, but it's looking cute so far.

Kasperg: I have to stress the importance of optimisation. Overlapping brushes are pretty much death in any map because they cause CSG to go berserk, which equals longer compile times, which equals laggier map.

Still early days, I guess. I have drawn concepts, and I have a good idea of what I want it to look like in my head, so who knows.

Metal Slug rocks.

Now, why the hell does everyone complain about C:G? Honestly, you've absolutely no grounds to say that it sucks. It's not like you were forced to pay for it. Personally, I thought it was a very cute, fun little game, even if did run badly on my CPU.

There are goals (i.e. land at a certain airport in certain conditions and so on). I played 2003 and I found it rather tedious. Unless you're interested in these sort of games, and you're willing to put in time, you'll find it horribly boring.

If we need more Staff, we'll announce it later. For the moment, and probably for the advent of TWHL3, we aren't gonna need more staff. TWHL3 is looking great by the way: as Alex said, a few IRC members have been allowed a look at the developement process. Kudos to Alex!

I'd really have to disagree with this. If I had invented something as brilliant as Garrys Mod, then I wouldn't suddenly ask people to buy it, especially after nine successful versions. I'm sure I have the same reaction as the fans of CS when they found out that it was going retail.

Sure, get it distributed via Steam, but make it free. I sure ain't paying for it.

Depending on what the VMT file says depends on where the models go. If the models are for GMOD, then it's possible that they're setup to go into the model folder for GMOD. As such, if you move 'em into a different folder, they won't work, unless you preserve the same folder names.

Edit: Argh, my bad, that stuff is defined in the QC file, not the VMT file: the VMT file is for textures. The QC, however, is embedded in the model itself.

The Iraqi war is completely unjustified, considering the US was using its spin doctors to claim that Osama Bin Laden was the mastermind behind 9/11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Afghanistan is anywhere near Iraq. And did the US Weapon Inspectors find weapons of mass distruction? I think not.

9/11 scares me, simply because all the conspiracy stories around it seem highly plausible. It all comes down to the fact that war = money.

Explain to me how my arguement applies to what I said above. I'm too proud to admit that America is A-OK? I'm sorry, but as someone who has had instances of American culture thrown at him (corporate greed, the influence of Western Culture, the fact that our Government seems to want to follows yours all the time) I'm getting pretty sick and tired of the huge overbearing force that America seems to instill over the world.

I refer you back to my earlier point: you can't exactly see your own faults if you've been brought up in that type of society. We can, and boy, it's horrible. From this thread, I've seen countless statistics, all of which have been retorted rather badly. I've seen passionate posts from Satchmo, Alex, Elof (and me, teehee) and I've seen nothing from the opposition.

The right to own and bear arms comes from a stupid Constitution law which arose out of the fear that Britain would invade the US.

Here's the problem, Rowley: you're looking at this entirely from a perspective that you've been accustomed to. When you look at something with a fresh perspective (i.e. someone who hasn't been brought with the "American Dream" ideal) you can see how totally ludicrous (and somewhat amusing) your various laws are.

Why the fuck do you need a gun? We have strict gun controls yeah. We also have lower gun related deaths FOR SOME STRANGE REASON. As for those shitty reasons you listed, we can still do that by joining a club. We either use the guns they keep there, or we purchase our own which is kept at the club. Personal defence is just a load of crap.
