Yup, started playing it again with the pre-release 1.8 file. Sleep patterns are officially fucked again. Damn this game.

EDIT: Ok, reverted back to 1.7 because of the crashes. Already missing the new lighting. Hadn't realised how much it had changed. Waiting on the official 1.8 release now. :D

EDIT EDIT: Anyone else finding a significant lack of coal in 1.8? Been using logs and charcoal since I started testing...

I made and compiled mathematically correct spheres and domes with hundreds of polygons without a single lighting bug.
Cool. I think you should put a load of this stuff together and compile it, then post it in the example maps vault. :)

I haven't messed with idle animations for a long time but I think I remember how this works.

Have the idle sequence playing by default and set the target field to the name of the animation you want the grunts to play after idling. Then, create a trigger which targets the IDLE sequence. This should stop the NPC looping that animation and it will then trigger the next sequence.

Wait I see you want to modify properties for children monsters. Well that is hard. Best thing I can think of is place a monsters with your properties in some faraway area and have them come in via a trigger teleport.
That can cause issues. I did that in a section of The Core and the enemies were invisble for a few seconds after moving.

As for your problem platoon, I think that your requirements are a little too advanced for the regular monstermaker entity. If there is a solution, it's way beyond my understanding. :|

The engine is dated by today's standards. Hell it was dated on release. Also, this is an RPG not an FPS. Of course your sniper rifle is inaccurate, you've never shot one before. You were born and raised in a vault. It's all about the XP and the perks you pick up. In New Vegas, I started out with sub-machine guns and pistols, thinking that was how I was going to play the entire thing. Now, I'm at level 35, I have 3 different caliber sniper rifles and I never EVER miss. :badass:

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are my current all time favourite games. It's just not for everybody I guess.

At what point does it happen. Do they not show up at all or do they vanish at a certain point while playing?

If I recall correctly from when I first started messing with source, only certain models work with certain entities. Say for example I set an object like a PC monitor to be a prop_static it would not appear as it should be a prop_physics.

WRONG!

Race X was created by Gearbox for Opposing Force. It has never been confirmed as canon, nor has it appeared in any official release by Valve software (or Gearbox since Opposing Force for that matter)

The Civil Protection have most likely never seen the combine. Hell, even Freeman didn't see the advisors (possibly the master race of the combine world) until he was in the upper levels of the citadel.

Wait wait wait. So you want a monstermaker which makes zombies, and when a zombie dies you want a new zombie to spawn. Well, then you have to set it to an infinite number of monsters and max live children to 1. That way when 1 zombie spawns, the monstermaker will stop. Then when the zombie dies, the monstermaker will create 1 new zombie, then stop again. You can still trigger in on and off if you want to.

No. He's dead. As for Alyx and GordOn having a child, who cares? It's not going to make any difference to the plot of the games. Probably something that will be mentioned in the epilogue of the saga.

I'm limited to when I can record, as well as only having access to a standard quality headset mic and Audacity.
Willing to do any role small or large. Done some minor roles for mods and a very very small part in an episode of The DC Chronicles machinma series. Was cast as a main character in a project which never got off the ground.

As for Half-Life, it's pretty old news that Ep3 isn't coming. I reckon Valve are having trouble making the next part of the story enjoyable to play.

I can picture the level designers / testers running through the tight interior of a ship, fighting telekinetic slugs and thinking: "Yeah, this is shit."

After all, they did cut the Borealis from Half-Life's story once already.

YogBox is a collection of mods which improves the game massively from resources to crafting possibilities and even basic functionality such as adding a key to automatically sort your inventory. Not used it myself because I'm not a big player anymore, however the guys at work rave about it.
