Did you ever stop to think that these two guys could of had bad days themselfs, that the times you encountered them, they themselfs were in terrible moods? Or did you even think that they could possibly of stabbed each other or something before the police arrived? People like that are best just ignored, sounds like you temporarily turned into an asshole yourself. :|

in FEAR through the eyes of a mapper Post #174552
The water shaders are excellent, and puddles reflect the world with almost perfect reflection
The water shaders don't even compare to Source's, from what i understand it still just uses hi-resoultion cubemap's as opposed to Source's true reflections.
FEAR is an excellent game, the levels do improve later on (wait until you get to the final level right at the end, all I can say is you will be blown away).
I have played entirely through it and i can say that the end is particularly good, however the entire game leading up to it so dreadfully boring. Repetitive hallways, endless 'scary incidents' that become horribly predictable and lose all their 'scare-factor'. Half-way through the game i was ready to give up because it bored the absolute shite out of me. The ending is the only section worth playing, it's as if all the team's effort went into that section alone, and it's not enough to justify bying the game i'n my opinion. And the spectacular AI that's it so hyped up about is really just a facade, it's one scripted event after another (the AI is told, this is a good time to knock over a table or this is a good place to crawl under for no apparent reason), and the radio transmissions the bad guys constantly make are bloody annoying. That being said, it is in places quite pretty. The worst decision is the inclusion of that fat character... comic releif? No, more like mood killer.

If they are purple and black it means the texture for them is missing. It may just be that you do not have halflife.wad set in the Hammer textures window, otherwise you could be mapping for an entirely different mod.

Space is a big flat, 2-dimension square, just like in all those old computer games, and when you fly your 'Hydro-booster deluxe' space-ship to the end of one side, you simply appear all the way on the otherside. You can also find fuel pickups floating around and use them by simply flying into them. It's that simple.

then why is there so much fucking analysis of them then, just look at this thread
IMMERSION, Valve created an interesting game-world that people like to discuss and ponder (not original, but since when are most games original?). And just because we are analysing a game's story, doesn't mean it's a friggin' masterpeice. People still analyse and retell Quake's story through conversions/upgrades and such, and that most-definately was not a brilliant plot.

Oh shutup, no one with more than half a brain beleives Half-Life 1 and 2's stories are 'the greatest stories ever told'. As far as game stories go however it's ahead of a majority of games, namely the whole 'terrorist have taken over yada yada... one man can stop them yada yada.' type games, which exist in plentitude. And besides, good movies borrow plot ideas from existing ones ALL THE TIME, so what if Half-Life 2 borrows some of Nineteen Eighty-Four's genius? A little depth aint' gonna' hurt anyone.

Dumbest theory ever. Gordon being related to the G-man in anyway sounds absolutely stupid. If that is the case though, Valve should rethink their plot. Oh and the gman/gordon models are totally different in Goldsource, and there is no proper Gordon model in Source.

And I've got a very good prove that my statement is true.
And the prove is, everything.
We are, for example, a thing that proves that my statement is true.
Everything; The universe, the galaxies, the solarsystems, have all been born out of what we call "nothing"
Wich means that there is something in nothing.
That is very cleverly put in my opinion Madcow.

I forget exactly where, but there is an area, I believe in one of the underground levels with the awesome boogie music, where you can break a certain ammount of bricks, then jump up into a small crack as big Mario, duck in air, and turn to the left. What you get is Mario, standing upright and facing left with the walking animation, going to the right so it resembles moonwalking.
I use to do that endlessly, it's on the second stage i think. It IS moonwalking, he does his forward walking animation, but moves backwards, like a pixelated version of the child-fondler.
