These have replaced my grunts full time and in all my mods.

I used to be pro-low-def models because the Hi-Def pack didn't really do it for me, but Romka and A.I. made the awesome Super-Def models and I've never looked back.

Yeah, now remaking the textures in the same style sure, but straight copy and pasting looks bad. The commanders face and the helmet look pretty terrible.

Woah...

What happened in here? I just used photoshop to recolour a screen cap. Personally I think that orange is the way to go.

There are too many blue / grey websites out there at the moment.

Thanks for the comments.

For those who asked, I need a coder to implement a note system and a keypad security system. The mod has a slight puzzle element to it, but its entirely optional. You won't find a door that requires a code that prevents you progressing the campaign, but you will receive weapons earlier by opening security lock ups and such.

@JeffMOD: That's just the design of the security uniform.

Unfortunatly this is a problem with both ATi cards and new Windows operating systems. I still run XP on my PC so I guess I'm lucky, however I've tried Hammer on several different PC's using Vista / 7 and it has never been a smooth ride. It's probably just time to move on. (Source) :P

Oh man. That looks awesome.

I'm learning modeling for work now and I would love to get into producing decent low poly models. 2 reasons:

1) Quick, efficient, easier to animate.
2) Requires decent texture work to pull it off.

All I need to learn now is coding and I can make my own games. (or just make mods more interesting.) :D

CoD4 was graphically impressive, though the campaign is far too short and the multiplayer is outdone by Bad Company 2.

Well, I have 2 dreams in mind.

One of them is bizarre and will involve a lot of scripting, and the other is kind of a creepy action horror thing.

Both are very vivid memories which is odd because though I dream a lot, I rarely remember the whole thing. I feel these 2 could be interesting gameplay wise and are the only 2 that are possible for me to make (I've had some truly weird ones :rly: )

I'll try and find a way to tie the 2 together.

A mini-mod format would be acceptable for entries that want to replace models. Entries containing custom code, UI (potatis), or anything besides in-game content, will be disqualified.

Yeah, my concern was the possibility of overwriting peoples stuff. I will just be replacing models and maybe a few sounds. No code or anything that changes the core engine.

I was wondering when this would turn up here. It started on the Black Mesa forums I believe.

Honestly, I see no point in this whatsoever.

Black Mesa is a recreation of HL1 in the Source engine. This means you can play through the original story in more detailed environments, with new and improved effects and physics.

HL2: Goldsource aims to recreate the second game on a comparatively primitive engine, which cannot handle half of the effects required to portray the story properly. The character simulation that made the characters so great to interact with will be gone. The physics system is mandatory. Even if you code one in, it needs to be stable enough to function with the gravity gun. Hell, you keep adding in additional code to get things to work properly you're just going to end up with the Source engine.

I'm sorry, but as fun and quirky as the idea seems, there is absolutely no fucking point. That may be negativity, but it's a fact.

edit: Also, a link would be helpful, but nevermind eh.

2nd one is a poor attempt at being fake. That's why it's obvious.

First one had me fooled for a second. Then I noticed subtle things like the Biffa container (don't see many REAL brand names in Valve games)

Also, no screens of Ep3 in 4 years and I'm supposed to believe development on HL3 has started? Pfft.
