Redner speeds. Its how many world brush polygons the game draws at once. One full texture(unlooped) I think adds 2 wpoly to the r_speeds. This is why strecthing textures can lower r_speeds and shrinking them can raise r_speeds.
Do a search on the forums for de_full_city if you want to see the argument, there are probably 2 or 3 threads on it.

Back on track, I assume we are talking about models here. Are you using p_ models too? If so, delete them all. 90% of the time p_ models give consistancy errors and you are never close enough to see them anyway.

I'm not sure about my favorite moment but I know that the my most memorable moment was the argument between me and the rest of TWHL on r_speeds. Most of you should remember it, some of you might not.

Just recently I switched to Opera. Now when I go to places like ytmnd.com the sounds that are supposed to be playing don't play. I have the "enable sound in web pages" checked in the quick preferences so how do I fix this?

But the Nihilanth's sentences were mentioned in this thread.
Not by the person asking the question.

The rooms are just blocks with detail in them.
Take out all the furniture and lighting fixtures and other things in your bedroom, what are you left with? A block with some doorways.

Hes not asking for nihilanth's voice. Some of you need to read his post more carefully.
when you stand next to the red portal, you hear many, many voices
He's asking about the voices that you hear near the teleport to Nihilanth's chamber, aka, voices of scientists, aliens, barney, and other sounds from earlier in the game.
Its a bunch of ambient_generics set to really low volumes and are triggered by a repeating multi_manager. If you want to create this effect(which I am assuming you do) make a bunch of ambient_generics, assign them a different name, check the "does not loop" flag, make a multi_manager, have the multi_manager trigger each sound one after another and finally have it trigger itself in the end, check the "multithreaded" flag so it loops itself.
Phew, long sentence.

Make a fast train that follows a set of entities that make it look like its falling. you could also just use a func_pushable but those don't hurt you.

$250 is a junkload of money to pay for a map. But hey, if they'll pay it its their problem.
Its all depends on what kind of map they want. if they want something like an fy or ka map I'd charge around $10 and if it were a large de or cs map I'd probably charge $40 or $50.

I wouldnt fucking own a death trap.
And yet you own a cell phone? Ahh! Cell phones emit radiation and give people brain tumors, you are risking your life as well as the lives of others around you, its a death trap! We're all going to die! there mere mentioning of a cellphone has laready started a tumor in my head, I've got roughly 6 months to live! And whats that in your garage?! A CAR? YOU RUN INTO PEOPLE WITH CARS, DEATH TRAP AHOY!

Anything can be a death trap if used the wrong way... except for cell phones... i guess you could hit someone REALLY hard with a cellphone.

The great thing about multiplayer maps is that its always different, in a sense, because you play different poeple in it. With single player once you figure everything out, thats it, theres nothing left. On the othe4r hand you can have a single player mod and you don't have to worry about hoe many people have it.

And Google is your friend too.
I'm getting very tired of people answering posts with "google it". If everybody were to google every question they ever had there would be no need for this part of the forum. The HL Engine Discussion forum was made so that people could help those in need and responding with a reference to a search engine doesn't cut it.

Minimum light level is what it says. It sets the minimum light that will be on the entity. Although this usually just ends up making the entity realy bright.

New screenshots. Still need to tone down the lighting but it looks a lot better than before.

An attempted screenshot of the outside, focusing on the arcitecture of the snow(thank God for Nem's terrain generator). The snow looks quite good.

The vending machines work the same way as the ones from Source. You "use" the buttons on the side, you hear 2 boins being put into the machine, there is a small pause, and a drink spits out of the machine.

New model: 7UP can.
574 polygons(yikes! But it looks great)

Func_wall_toggles are you friend.
Put a func_wall_toggle in the area that the player will be standing and put a trigger_multiple whever you want the player to stop moving. Have the trigger_multiple active the func_wall_toggle. Its not possible to remove controls from the player but you certainly can stop them from moving.
