Are you saying that if you removed religion from america it would implode on itself because the majority of people would become twisted murderers, rapists, etc as soon as the 'barrier' to immorality was clearedNo, but some would.
Which isn't to say that religion's the ideal way to keep miscreants in line, especially since I don't think there's any surveys like "If you weren't a Christian, would you become a murderer/rapist?" Either way, it's not going away until mankind is extinct.

Politicans don't mind lying, atheists don't believe in Hell so there'll be no eternal damnation (which is a plus if you're a politician) if they do lie, so really they could just say they're Christian while being atheist. Woot.We get it. We're not brainiacs on the nerd patrol. We're not members of the factinista. We go straight from the gut, right sir? That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut. Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up. I know some of you are going to say I did look it up, and that's not true. That's cause you looked it up in a book.
