hahahahaahah saribous is the epitomy of how ridiculous the community has got over the delay of a game!

a) Valve are going to force Stream onto us through it, which is a good thing because it IS THE DARK SIDE
b) The game wasn't really ready anyway which IS THE DARK SIDE
c) IT. IS. ONLY. A. GAME. get over it and join THE DARK SIDE

Plane: think of that face extending to infinity, that is a plane, anything else that is 'level' with that face now extended to infinity, is on the same plane

That is if you map for art (myself), some map simply to make others happy, which in itself is far from an invalid quest

or you could just mirror the halflife toolpack v2.4 (has every tool you should ever need to map with in a handy single download)

I don't think there is a valid excuse for decompiling a map, its all nonsense made up by people who want to look at other people's work. If you didn't have sense enough to backup then you deserve to lose your maps.

http://collective.valve-erc.com/ (31 December)

I implore all of you who respect your intellectual property to speak up against this. One of the major members of VERC has created a decompiler capable of PROPER brush reconstruction, meaning that even our geometry is no longer safe. I see it as a stupid and tactless idea from someone so in tune with the mapping community. :|

I know we've already had a discussion about this before, so i'd rather you keep your opinions about decompiling to yourself and focus upon the morals/ethics of the new tool itself and whether it should be taken from public release before it's too late.

in NULL, HINT & SKIP? Post #10023
HINT is used for vis cleanup as 7th said, it forces a vis portal to be created, thus can help to lower r_speeds in an area if used wisely (45 degree cuts).

SKIP is used on all the other faces of the brush used for the above. Only one face should be textured with HINT.

Make sure to texture interior walls with NULL for zany hall of mirrors goodness.

Consoles should stop trying to take over what the pc has been best at for so many years, I haven't seen a decent console fps since goldeneye/pd. I go in shops these days and see 6 different versions of a game, of course there isn't a bloody pc version though, as pc games are 'software' and relegated to pc world. I couldn't even pick up a single copy of call of duty in 5 shops I looked in yesterday!

in Coca Cola Post #9715
First they bring out coke, people think 'omg its like got soo many calories in it'
so they bring out diet coke, people think 'omg its like got caffine in it which is a drug!!11'
so they bring out caffine free diet coke, which contains none of the elements that make coke taste like coke

Now they bring out vanilla, lemon, and all the other sad attempts at trying to decrease how hopelessly entrenched their brand is. Noone will bother with anything but the established coke and diet coke, I don't understand their marketing philosophy.

I think vanilla coke tastes like eating a candle btw.
