in spirit mod? Post #7519
No, you don't need spirit to get it to work. Just use spirit's spirit.dll and client.dll. And also, you'd need to include the aurora files and sprites (rain.spr, null.spr etc.).

I don't think we should vote like this. I think we should have a poll like we did with the last contest, and have the same 2 hour privilege that regulars get. Voting for yourself would have to be allowed, obviously, so maybe we shouldn't vote. Maybe we should just all get together on IRC or something and decide then.

You don't need HLMV to see models in the 3d view but you do need to unpack the models folder.

in spirit mod? Post #7457
I'd love to make it a spirit mod, but not everyone understands or can be bothered to get spirit. So I think we should just stick with original hl. Or alternatively, the project leaders could have spirit and anyone else maps for both spirit and original hl. Most people want original hl, so I think we should use that.

Where the hell do we vote?

Also, I love the stuff people are adding to my idea!

I think for teaming up:
Shephard meets gordon. They team up. They meet Calhoun, Dr. R., Simmons and Walter (From BS). They form a big team. Freeman, Calhoun and Shephard do all the fighting, Dr. Rosenberg and the scientists do the techy stuff. For the plot, I think we should have Shephard escaping the osprey he was trapped in due to gman forgetting to close the portal (You never see it close!). He ends up in an FBI base where gman works and has to escape completely unarmed, without a suit or anything. That could be a stealth portion of the mod. Then, he meets freeman somehow, and they head to a base of some sort somewhere which has a load of black mesa archives. They find a survivor list. On the list, it has the locations of some survivors (Calhoun etc.). Then we have some sort of plot. I can't think of a plot, I'll leave you lot to the plot, but I hope you incorporate my idea.

in Walls Post #7150
Shooting through walls? That sounds interesting. Reminds me of perfect dark's FarSight XR-20 railgun! I didn't know rifles shot through walls though. Try setting the walls as func_breakable, strength 0, and (although it seems strange) material type unbreakable glass. Bullets will only leave holes in that. Unfortuantely, it will look and sound a bit odd. Sparky with a glass sound. Hmmm. I don't know. Double brush walls?

I would recommend the idiot's guides. I got one for Visual basic when I used to program for that and it was great! Even came with a trial version of MS VB 6! The only downside is you can't create exes with it :(

Maybe if you get a C++ idiot's guide, you may get a free compiler/trial version of MSVC++! I haven't actually had a look at idiot's guides for C++ yet. I would recommend dummy's guides as well, they are of a similar standard!

I've asked this 1st q. before but I'll ask again: How did gearbox make the camera screens fuzzy in bshift? I know it's a sprite but I can't find it anywhere in bshift/sprites. I know it's a sprite because I noclipped to see the filmed rooms close up.

Second, how did they make the scientists reflect in blue shift's intro? In the small lab on the left when you're on the tram. I know how to make furniture etc. reflect, but how do I make scientists reflect? I noclipped again and found that the reflections aren't solid. How did they do this?

Come on, we can use the existing weapons. It doesn't matter too much about realism. And as for the team idea, myself, I think it sucks, since I accidentally wrecked a team of myself and blackcat once when I was enjoying making the map myself so much I left him out! If we do have teams however, we TELL THEM WHAT TO DO! Then it won't cause problems. But I think individuals is better.

I love that time idea. I've played timesplitters 2, and it's amazing. Maybe not just 1940 though. A WW1 section would be interesting, and there's a bit where you have to go over the top and miraculously survive. And I think we should do it like ts2, where you are a different character in every level. SO there could be a WW1 section, a WW2 section (More interesting: Non-mounted automatic guns!) and other sections.
