brand new computer, the rest of my valve games work (hl2, ep1 ep2 TF2 etc) and no theres no error message, it just closes out.

I just got Garrys Mod 10 and every time i start it, it gets to the load screen. Then when its at the point where its finished loading, it closes out. It did this with SMOD redux too. Is it a problem with vista or steam or my computer. And how can i fix it

For some reason, right at the beginning of the game when Alyx mentions a "portal storm" and the explosion or wave or w/e you wanna call it reaches the area im in, my computer restarts... is it supposed to do that or is there a problem with the installation?

i was thinking of making a halo-like single player mappack and some multiplayer maps. i have elongation alredy and rim suggested zanzabar next or beaver/battle creek. anyone else got any other ideas (other than bloodgulch/coagulation or containment with HL1 cant handle)

im gettin a new pc in a few weeks so i can start on source, maby then ill do the bigger maps

after school on wednsdays, the libary is open for 3 extra hours, so you can get work done. but sometimes if alot of people are at a field trip, and you have a nice teacher you can pull it of during regular hours.
damn strait, Mr. Shuck is the best :glad:

and my mr carl be damed :furious: who has a room full of computers and doesn't let us use them during SADD club field trips

and starcraft can use a default cd key, for any ammount of players i think. And im not joking, but that cd key is "1234567890123"

what i did was add a cycler model to the map and when i sent it to some1 to test out he said it didnt work on steam, unless thats just CS on steam and not HL :zonked:

i think i solved the problem, the water was a total of 5 brushes, i tried making each one an individual func_water. it seams to be working fine so far but i need to see how it looks in openGL, ill be entering this map in the current contest. (my first contest entry ever) :

ps. yea it has been a while since ive been on, my sister has been online for 24/7 ever since i hooked the other pc up to the net...big mistake

in my map i have a room filled with water and there is a glass tunnel on the bottom, i made the water a func_water hoping that the brush wouldnt appear aganist the glass but rather a somewhat transparent texture. but the problem is that when i compile the map the water isnt where i put it. and it ends up in random places on the map, any one got an idea whats going on

i tried compiling with the func_water with a name and a speed on 0 and with a master but it still keeps dissapearing

well....i got HL2 xbox version, i didnt buy it tho, it was givin to me. its not that bad the graphix are fine. they dont seam to be downgraded, but they are better than on my pc. The only problem is the absense of multiplayer, developers said they didnt add it because CS is on the xbox : , but HL2DM is alot more fun than CS. mostly because of the physics and the Gravity Gun :) , and the i really like the secondary fire on the pulse rifle too. hope fully they'll come out with HL2DM sometime, and make it playable over live and LAN, it might have to be like doom3 tho, 1 player per xbox. :tired:

i hear alot that FPS's suck on consoles, but what about halo? because of the set-up of the gamplay (ie grenades, meele, action, and reload) its hard to play on PC. I have both xbox and pc version of halo and its too complicated to play on pc. my controles are the same as the defalt HL setup movement (w,a,s,d) mouse looks, eft click shoot, right meele, middle scope, f flashlight, q swich weapon, e action, 1,2 change grenades, r reload, g swap weapon. it just doesnt work well, gets a little confusing with the grenades and all. In HL the grenade was always used as an indvidual weapon, which had both its good and bad points, but some FPS work well on the consoles where some should be left to the PC. as in halo stay on the xbox, where HL should be kept to the PC. At that Timesplitters should be moved to the PC because of the look sensitivity and the way the game's set up. to hard to play on a console, especially on multiplayer, players move really fast, and when they get a speed pick up.. its even imposible to hit them with a nuke :zonked:

however i jus got doom 3 this weekend, im sure its good for the PC but it plays well on the xbox. Only particular bad point is that Co-op and deathmatch can only be played on Xbox Live and LAN, so it would seem that its not much different from the PC, the pause screen is basically like pusing ESC while playing HL, brings up a menu that is similar.

But like i said some FPS are best played on console and some are best played on PC

dusty's got a point....sorta crowbars are usless in multiplayer, i almost never use it, unless some freshman sees us playin HL over the schools LAN in the library and says "that game looks cool, can i play?" then whe jus beat the $h!+ outa him with it. other than that the only use it has is for killing headcrabs and breaking vent ducts, or hitting zombies to save ammo.

i actually alredy have the Assult Rifle, i just need the flood forms and the other weapons, the sprites and the textures
