I'm so confused about the rules of this compo. First I thought it was to take a broken CS map and fix it. Then I thought it was to take the theme from a broken map, and make a completely new good map in that theme.

Can I take the theme from a cs map that sucks, the layout from another cs map that sucks, and combine them into a new map? I don't want to give away what I'm doing but I can give an example using different maps: If I decided de_downed blew chunks but the jungle theme was cool, and cs_militia blew chunks but the assault-a-building type of map was cool, could I remake cs_militia with a fixed layout in downed's jungle theme? Would that count as taking downed's theme and making a better map? pleasesayyespleasesayyespleasesayyes

You're not the only one. I saw him(them? I'm sure more than one character runs that script) twice with my last character.

edit: just saw him with my new character, then the bastard he stole from got me killed. I was in the middle of combat and he ran up and initiated a conversation. After I died, he died as he stood there talking to my corpse.

I used some sale goodness and gift cards to pick up some games I didn't have:

Rage
Civ IV and three expansions
Dirt 3
MW3
Company of Heroes
Painkiller: Heavens Got a Hitman

They should keep me busy for a while.

I also got a Wacom tablet and an Iphone. Not the new one, but I've had the shittiest phones ever forever, so it's nice.

Ok, here's what will decide it. If anyone can confirm that gldsource and ye-olde Hammer work with 64 bit Windows 7 then I'll enter. I haven't done gldsource in forever and I think it would be neat.

Saw that Metro 2033 was on sale for five bucks so I decided to give it a go. I've not gotten very far, but there were some pretty harrowing moments so far already. It's really too bad that they continuously kill the immersion, I wish they had gone the Half-life/Amnesia route and not taken any jumps in the story because otherwise the world feels very authentic and deep. Also the depth of field is sickeningly low, and the game seems to reset it's configuration files every time you launch it. Shame, shame!

You're really not missing much, anyways. Whoever is playing just shoots at a sheep and then detonates an unnecessary amount of TNT. If the update is really only about a week off then it's totally worth it not to have anything spoiled.

I'm sure you could put that level of detail into a tessalating model, but the players camera would never get close enough to require all that detail, especially with everything in motion.

Good choice Zeeba. Funtional, subtle, small.

Now personally, I'd be walking around with a long bow if I could. How BA would that be.

Why can we walk around with guns but not longbows? I'd be down with paying for training and a license for it.

Prove to whom? No one here gives a flying fuck about your racial agenda. I'm not even sure why we're talking about it to begin with.

[edit] also, you talk about immigration as if we humans haven't been meandering around the planet since the modern species has existed- like some change is happening. This is not new, it is literally the farthest from new we can get without losing all relevance to the topic. What is also not new is the irrational, short-sighted and reactionary responses by some humans.

That's a hypothetical question of course, there is no actual racial problem.

Racists exist in Japan, therefor everything you say is correct? Racists exist everywhere. I don't really understand how that is a logical argument, or even a coherent thought.

Also, the IQ system is arbitrary, outdated, and easily tricked. Two people of equal intelligence can get very, very different scores simply because one person remembers particular mathematical rules, equations or tricks better than the other.

Even if I were to believe that page was legitimate, sourced information and not just propaganda produced by someone with a personal, racist agenda- it wouldn't mean anything.

The more I read about it the more potential it has. I've always thought that small teams was the most fun, and CS:GO is being geared towards competitive 5v5 games, with a matchmaking system IIRC. I like that the weapons are more situational as well, although I'll be mad if neither of the 3 shotguns is effective at anything past twenty feet. The SMG changes sound alright, and if they fix the rifles so that the first 2-3 rounds are actually accurate then that'll be great, too. I can't wait to see how the player movement has been fixed, and obviously how the new version of the engine looks, and the map remakes.

It will be interesting to see if they can break CS's biggest problem- tons of guns, but only four(deagle, m4, ak, awp) ever get used.

The one time that I happened to stay at a house that had a warrant served the next day, one of the officers had a paintball gun. They use "paintballs" filled with pepper spray or another irritant and fire them at people's chests, so it all explodes out into their face. That seems like something they should employ en mass at riots.

It could take an eye out but it's certainly not lethal.

Less than lethal is used because the term "rubber bullet" is incredibly misleading. They are small metal balls, encased in hard plastic. Last time the Sox won the series a girl got killed by them at the celebrations. There were small instances of rioting.

It had been a while since we won.

in Last movie you saw? Post #297740
Rampage

A Uwe Bol film about a kid who builds a bulletproof suit and goes on a killing spree. It was not great.

The actor picked for the kid was great for the role, his face, i can't explain it. He really looked like a kid with some issues. Some of the killing spree was awkward to watch, it just seemed to go on and on and on. Just the kid shooting unarmed people, over and over and over. Maybe that was the point, I'm sure something like that feels like it lasts forever to everyone there.

There were dumb half-second flashbacks of the spree from the very beginning of the movie, that got longer and clearer. It almost spoiled itself. If I were smarter, it would have. Not good.

Also, he reloaded once. ONCE. Killed about a hundred people. One reload.

Before that I watched The Boondock Saints which I'm sure everyone has seen.

Water cannons are incredibly effective against crowds. Unfortunately for those of us in the States, they carry a huge racial stigma and we very rarely use them. It's too bad, it can be safer than other "non-lethal" types of weaponry.
