in Doors aren't closing Post #207928
I don't understand, the only flag I have checked is 'use closes'.

in Doors aren't closing Post #207897
Okay, I set the delay time to 10 and tried to close it, it still didn't work. It also didn't close even after the 10 seconds. So, I made another map with a prop_door_rotating and tried opening it and closing it; it worked fine. Even when I set the delay time to -1 it worked. Then, I tried to copy and paste the working door into my map with the doors that don't work, and then the working door stopped working.

It won't close when I manually close it. (Go up to it and press 'e")

in Doors aren't closing Post #207876
On a map I'm making, I've made two floors. No errors were occurring until I finally made it to the second floor. When I compiled, none of my prop_door_rotating doors were closing. Here's the properties I've set for them.

Properties:
Name: Door01
Parent:
X Y Z: 0 0 0
Global Entity Name:
World model: models/props_c17/door01_left.mdl
Skin: 7
Disable Shadows: No
Slave Name:
Hardware type: Lever
Ajar Angles: 0 0 0
Spawn Position: Closed
Hinge Axis: -4880 2613 70, -4880 2613 70
Rotating Distance: 90
Speed: 120
(I'm sure the sounds are not neccessary)
Delay Before Closed: -1
Damage Inflicted When Blocked: 0
Health: 0
Force Closed: Yes
Open Direction: Open Both Directions

Flags:
Use Closes

This has occurred on all three doors and I don't know whats happening. The Doors open 90 degrees and then they don't close. They were working before, then they just stopped closing.

I think they used an ai_goal_actbusy combined with info_node_hints.

in Lighting through a doorway Post #207492
I'll try to be more specific. One room has a window with a light_spot behind the window that is aimed through the window into the room. I want this light to light up the room as much as possible. However, on the other side of a prop_door_rotating I have a flickering light and the light is going straight through the door, even though the door is closed. The flickering light then lights up the room it isn't supposed to.
When I said I parented a block light texture to the doorway, I meant that I made the block light texture follow the prop_door_rotating, so when it was closed it would block the light.

I did. "I've tried parenting a block light brush to the doorway and it helps a little, but still doesn't work completely."

I don't know if this is possible, but I have two rooms connected with a door (obviously). There is a flickering light in the first room and a sun beam coming through the window in the second room. The sun beam is supposed to light up the second room, but the flickering light is coming through the doorway from the first room and lighting up the second room. Is there anyway I can keep the light from coming into the second room? I've tried parenting a block light brush to the doorway and it helps a little, but still doesn't work completely.
(I would post an image, but I have no idea how to and the help doesn't help much.)

(Seriously, I don't get it.)

I finally found the problem. I didn't realize that XSI needed an active internet connection, and I think it has a problem with wireless internet. Either way, I installed it on another computer and it opens within 10 seconds. Thanks again for all the help.

I've done a lot of digging around in the XSI files. So, I wanted to know if someone who actually got XSI to work could tell me if they found a file in their installation directory called data2.cab. I'm trying to repair my files but the setup requires that I manually find the file. So if someone found it, could they please tell me the directory they found it in?
I did check Softimage's contacts to see if I could mail them, but they wanted a lot of information; I figured it was just a waste of time.

I am a very impatient man...

Not only that, but I'm also arrogant and I don't pay attention to what other people's time zone are. So, about that dropship problem?...

I can play Half-Life 2 fine (even with HDR, high dynamic range, and whatever else they put in), and my computer meets all of the system requirements. However, I haven't found any e-mail support. Also, I left XSI on to load but being so impatient, I only waited about 10 minutes or so. I'll try loading it on a friend's computer and see how it turns out. Thanks for all the help.

Alright thanks. I downloaded the XSI Mod Tool (4.2) and installed it. After that, without downloading the add-on, I tried running it. I get the start-up screen, and it freezes. I checked the task manager and after about 3 seconds of running the program, the computer usage has a massive decline and the XSI introduction screen freezes. I have absolutely no idea what the problem is, and the Online Guides for XSI have been no help. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on?
(By the start-up screen, I mean the small window that appears on the screen after executing the shortcut.)

I want to start working with modelling; however, I have one main problem. I almost have no idea where to get started. I do know one thing, I need a modeller. I looked around and found XSI and 3DS, but they cost over $500. Is there any modeller/animator that's cheap or, better yet, free?

in Stupid Dropships! Post #207134
I'm trying to make a dropship fly in front of a house, drop off 4 combine, and fly off. I know I got the combine right (thank you Interlopers), but the dropship flys off in circles and won't go straight! I tried using a logic_auto entitiy and I tried setting its first path_corner it its properties; however, it still doesn't work. Anyone know how to make it fly straight? Or make it sense the path_corner?
