in stupid shadow! how do i fix it? Post #12105
well, i fixed the light_environment, but i have another problem. In a part of the map i have a thin block leaning against the wall, but it casts a shadow where it should not. There's a screenie of it here: http://fa.pas-com.net/images/stupidshadow.bmp. (sorry, didn't resize it so may take a few more seconds to see)

thanks

well i fixed it. it seems that i had only the sky texture on the bottom part of the ceiling, and after i changed the whole ceiling (including the faces facing the void) so that it was all textured "sky", it worked. Thanks guys!

hey since i'm a noob, im not sure if i'm getting this lighting stuff right.

i have two rooms (with sky) connected by a hallway. Both have a light_environment entity with:

PYR: 0 0 0
Pitch: -90
Brightness: 255 255 120 50

One of the rooms is the ct spawn (cs map), and the light_environment in that room works, but the light_environment in the other room does not.

in Problem with BSP files Post #8600
you can't open .bsp files with hammer. .bsp files are the finished, compiled map. decompiling is very ineffective. if u need some example maps there are a bunch in the map vault. make sure the map u want comes with the .rmf file. those are the uncompiled "source" maps. those are the ones u can open in hammer and edit and look at.

i actually think clans are fun, especially when ur friends with the people in them. strategy, scrims, and clan matches are really fun too, i think.

but supermechacow...i would love to join if u have at least enough players to make a cal roster... :

hey..i was trying to make a hole in the wall (as if blown into by a rocket launcher or something), and i wanted to know the best way to do it because mine comes out really choppy and unrealistic.

btw, when i say hole in the wall, i mean something real messy, with pieces of wall on the ground and rough, sharp sides. like something from dod.

thanks!
