He needs because he can always upgrade his PC with out the need of a newer MoBo. Especially when prices drop for good GPUs in the future.It's not cost-effective, nor efficient to upgrade to two video cards in the future. There are powerful enough single-card GPUs(and there are dual-GPU cards btw, although expensive).

I have a Gigabyte S3 motherboard since 2007, it was kind of mid-level. In 2010 I upgraded the CPU, updated the BIOS and it worked. No "solid-state" capacitors. None of them exploded/leaked. I assume most of the newer motherboards have better quality capacitors anyway. I'm saying that it's not a good idea to just throw money on a high-end motherboard.

I'm probably the only 12-year-old in existence to be a fan of Wolfenstein 3D, Half-Life, and the only to refuse to touch a copy of Call of Duty.At your age I was enjoying games like Transport Tycoon as well as playing Crysis. I heard a lot of people who continuously talk about gameplay, giving(apparently) zero importance to graphics. And me, as a person who likes diversity, when bringing the point of high quality graphics, I'm probably regarded as that stereotypical guy that plays only FPS games... this is just prejudice.
