Somebody ought to optimize the drawing interface and extend it a bit. It proves to be too small a lot of time, and there's no damn fill button!
Also, a good idea would be if they let people upload scanned documents. I'm already horrible at drawing, I'm even more when using a mouse that makes my palm hurt!

Rimrook, I don't have problems with the compiling either when this happens.
The odd thing is that if I switch to "3D texture" from "3D shaded texture polygons", the textures render again normally :/.

Well I can tell from experience that trying to copy-paste cubes is definitely not going to work. In a map the size of a big room you're already going to experience low FPS.

Unfortunately if you really want to make a map like that you're going to have to trace the outline of the cubes, which is some tedious work. But there are more problems involved: it's also how vvis computes the viewable space or how vrad computes the light. Even if you're going to transform those "cubes" in func_detail brushes, vrad is still going to do a lot of calculations. I suppose that's not a big issue with your brand new processor though...

Or perhaps use prop_static cube props? I never tried that, it might work, but then again you'll fill up your map quickly and it won't be very playable...

in Media Centres Post #305264
I heard Raspberry Pi can actually be used as a media center since it can play blu-ray quality video. The problem is that it's not easily available yet and Ubuntu is not compatible with the ARM processor it's using, so you'll have to rely on Debian or Archlinux or something.
A major advantage is that RP only uses about 3W as far as I know.
Anyway, this is more for experienced users than for somebody who wants a media center to be installed quickly.

60 pages is approaching 100? In figures it's kind of close, but it's going to take a long time [Given how active this thread is] for it to reach 100.

Flash memory wears out over time, dies quick. I am just telling you to be careful. It can die at any age or any circumstance. Plus when the disc is full of files it slows it down.
Then what about SSDs? I mean, I totally understand you, I could expect a cheap flashdrive to fail at any moment, but not this one. I think this one has a greater lifespan.
I have an A-Data Jogr 2GB USB 2.0 flashdrive that I bought in 2008 and I've been using it ever since. I did an error-scan today and it reported no problems. I suppose I can trust even more this new stick, as it's newer technology :).

Don't use small memory sticks, they will die as soon as the warranty expires.
I'm talking about a Kingston USB 3.0 128gb flashdrive. It's not exactly small, and not exactly bad quality either.
Can't you password protect 7zip archives?
Archives take a lot to be compressed. It's an impractical solution for gigabytes of data.
TrueCrypt
Since I'm talking about high amounts of data, possibly leaving only a quarter of the flashdrive with free space, is this going to slow a lot the transfer speeds?
Striker StrikerI forgot to check the oil pressure

in USB memory stick encryption Post #304763
I've decided I won't sell after all that 128gb stick that I've won, it's more of a niche market product and there are few people that could actually want to invest in such a thing, since portable hard-disks are a much more attractive alternative. If somebody actually offered to buy this from me I would invest part of the money in a portable HDD that I'd use for back-up. Meh... to keep me happy, I've got excellent portability and excellent transfer speeds(it's a USB 3.0 compatible device)

The problem is that if I'm going to use this as a form of backup(mainly for my photos, which would already occupy half of the stick space), I'd also like to protect it somehow. A portable hard-disk is harder to lose, but a minuscule thing like this memory stick is more prone to being lost. As such, I want to protect that data somehow.

I know there isn't software that renders the stick totally unusable- it can be formatted and be used again. But that doesn't bother me, the data was deleted so I won't be afraid somebody would use my data.
Basically what I need is some kind of software that asks me for a password, possibly a customizable welcoming screen( with an email in case it's lost and found by a good guy greg), and optionally some level of encryption.

TL;DR Want to use a memory stick for backup and normal use. Need password encryption software.

Any ideas?

Eventually, it bugged out my video card and games claimed they couldn't recognise my video card.
Seems to be an isolated case. No, I am not defending AMD here, nor am I an AMD fanboy. I had a Nvidia GeForce 7600GS in the past and I acknowledge the quality of Nvidia's drivers.
But some people describe AMD video cards as being garbage, which is completely not true.

For that price I could build an airplane. This computer costs nearly 800$ and features a crappy Hd7450 graphics card, which is low-end. I hate these kind of offers where some aspects are ridiculously bloated while others seem to be neglected.
If I was building the computer I'd save money by buying only 6gb of memory( also 10gb seems like an unusual configuration) and a 500gb hard-drive, since they're so expensive right now. I'd then have the money for a more decent graphics card, like Radeon HD7750 which is way better.
