No I really have no desire to 'keep this alive' by posting more shit.

Here's the facts:

You said you had nothing else going on, I still have that message even, and you would be glad to help out and help me get that project done.

Turned into a big fat lie. After getting the idea to you and some work done for it and sharing, all the sudden you had a previous project you were working on- yet you just claimed NOTHING and were BORED and WANTING something to work on. You seemed like the perfect person to help out- and it was just a big act.

I have since given the project idea to another mapper and sorta just map for wasting time more then getting anything done. You really killed the desire bad. I do hope Name Omitted get's the idea done, and well, and puts my name on it like he said he would as a "Thanks to Ember, for the wonderful map idea" even though he will deserve 100% credit since he's doing ALL the work.

I just play RP server now and wait for Name Omitted Again to send me the finished map to give the server owner, and am rather anxious since some of his work was threaded here (He needed some help, but amazingly he got it... without the gruff) and he's sent me some screenshots and its very 'basic' looking right now, and textures aren't fully done yet, but the amount of details he is putting in is going to be great.

Anyway, have fun, stop the drama, stop being a jerk, move on with life.

So I make a test map, 3 rooms, several doors, a hallway some lights, made it pretty and detailed, but i get some odd error ...

Creating default cubemaps for env_cubemap using skybox materials:
skybox/sky_day01_01*.vmt
Run buildcubemaps in the engine to get the correct cube maps.

No such variable "$hdrbasetexture" for material "skybox/sky_day01_01rt"
Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_day01_01 to build the default cubemap!

I uh... didn't use skybox at all... so I don't know why this is being problematic... anyone help me out on this?

The map is closed off with no leaks (iam nearly 100% sure) I've gone over it at least a dozen times with snap on grid 1 making sure each 'corner' is another wall intersection and not a gap. I have even made large 'blocks' to block where i think gaps MIGHT exist, even though they make it look horrible, testing is more important then looks right now....

SoI managed to get to test the map finally, however for some reason only like 10 seconds then timed out... another mystery to add to my box.

Lol Iam not asking for them to make it for me, just help make parts with me. I know the rules, I been mappin since 1.6 for god's sake, Just needed some help on a tight schedule.

But the )*)((( that agreed to help me jetted. So now I am even farther behind on schedule because I have to do what he claimed he did. Might as well scrap the project.

Oh and by the way if your readin this - to the guy that was helping me - don't ever let me catch you here, your scum. You lied about helping, stole what I had and sent you under good faith then called me a bitch and blocked my messanger by removing my STEAM ID. Good job kiddo- must really be 14.

Whats really sad is hes been a member since 2004, and won some awards, makes me wonder if he stole other people's map ideas for those awards. I thought I could trust him since he had higher credit then someone without a profile or awards or hardly known. Guess I was wrong. A guy named Kissker is helping me now and he's won jack and hasn't even submitted any finished maps on here, but has shown me some he has done, thanks again Kissker for helping, and shame on you Bud for stealing what work I had done and then saying you weren't going to help anymore, when in fact you didn't help at all!

its not really mapping for GMod- thats just the default map. I actually don't own Gary's and neither does the owner, nor many of the admin team in charge of the RP forums and such. That is just the default map that the Plugin uses. We actually had another map, however it was too small and caused a lot of issues.

Any map can be configured in the plugin via Origin coordinates to work for the plugin, so literally any source map can become a RP map, its just will it be a GOOD RP map ^.^

Once I am ready to test, and hit the lovely 'Run' button, I eventually load up- however only for a few seconds before getting a lovely message, I believe its 'client timed out'.

I at first thought my Map had a error and such.. but I am wondering if maybe my computer is just not up to par to host a sever and run the map at the same time?

Anyone gotten this before?
Anyone know a good build for a listen server?

Iam not sure that the game matters but HL2; DM

Ok, so, I play on a Roleplaying server, that uses a Plugin to enable cash/minute, jail status and the like... but we need a real Roleplay map and not just a DeathMatch map modded to work...

We currently use this map ::http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=30316:: to work on, but its much too dark and not nearly 'big' enough with space for all we want. the Apartments are nice start- however things get stuck in them easily and they need to be made bigger- as well as taller.
The combine base is a joke.. its several stories tall, however nothing useful inside, this needs to be changed. Needs an armory, double doors on EVERY entrance. and Complaint Department (next to hospital in this map) needs to be seperate access from the main combine base. The shops are OK, Foto and all that, they serve their purpose. The hospital needs a morgue added as well as an ER. and the whole map needs to be a bit brighter.

Map needs a lot of work in a very short amount of time, so I thought I'd come here to ask for help.

Basically I'd like someone (or several someones) to work on at least a small part of the map, and then provide the files and I'll combine them, give credit where needed for what building, and submit here for everyone to see our work.

I need many 'working' buildings, as it is a City feel, and Role Play life.

Apartment building - housing 2 slightly different shaped apartments per floor (or 4 per floor 2 on each side) 4-5 stories tall. (Think rp_c18_v1 maps apartments) These apartments need Kitchens, bathrooms a secondary area for bedroom, and a main room for furniture (roleplay mod allows to buy/spawn these, so only a openable fridge, stove, sink and bathroom stuff are needed in the rooms) Floor to ceiling needs to be about120 units high.

Police Department/Combine Post Needs 3 Jail Cells, multiple floors, a room for an armory lots of security and double security doors and a command room, as well as a Security room for multiple camera/monitor use.

TV station- this is pretty basic, it will have 1 camera to broadcast to TV/Screens around the map. Doesn't have to be huge, can even be the top floor to:
Movie Theater- would like to have this large 'screen' show a different 'movie' then the TV station's broadcast so possibly in the projection booth add a Camera just for this purpose. (would also be cool to have buttons to switch to TV mode or Movie mode)

Fire Station- pretty basic area made for firemen to hang out, doesn't need the truck, just a basic system and a working Pole would be nice.

Hospital with Morgue. (for injury and zombie fun)
Insane Asylum (for when players get a little out of hand and need a time out)

Graveyard (pretty basic here, maybe a few enter=able crypts for fun and stuff to go to the sewers

Bank (this will be the main spawn point for players)

Casino (especially if we can find a working plugin to help time and blow/win money)

Warehouses (even just big empty ones with a few loading docks and main doors) These are used a lot by our OP builders for events and Antlion spawns and illegal arms dealers.... so 2-3 of these would be great.

I will be working on a Junkyard and Sewers system myself, as well as a Park and hoping to learn enough to push everything together so it fits well. And Shops for use with the plugin...

I want a 'morning light' type sky texture used, not really dark, but not really bright. The city doesn't have to be super gloomy/dark but some back alleys and such will exist.

Any windows you create need to be breakable and look nice (even from the 5th story of apartment buildings

Doors besides combine security doors should be standard doors, and not slide/shift

Combine doors should be the metal security doors I see a lot, and can either slide up or to one side, or even down if able.

Force fields need to be put in place on many 'high security' areas, however need to be deactivated on areas that go to other places (force fields to block off halls that lead no where are alright to have non- deactivateable)

Don't worry about props, these will be added if needed (due to the fact this is a role play server and we can purchase chairs and things ourselves)

Do try and make things very pretty, like texture line ups, making sure doors that slide into a wall don't do the over-lap texture thing and all that remember that 10-15 people will normally be on at once, so anything to help reduce lag is a plus.

Please help me out, server will be going down for a new Host, and many changes are being done to improve performance, and I would like the map up and running before it's been up too long (due to the fact that the Roleplay elemets will be wiped clean and we can all have a fresh start on a fresh map)

uninstalling and reinstallin video shows camera now (yay!) Now to re-learn how to make DM maps >< Stil lags out quite a bit... stops responding... hmm...

Yea that was the first thing I did was check the view (I used to map when 1.6 was the big thing, so hammers not 100% new to me) I set to 3d flat (typical for me) and 3d texture.. and nothing shows up. using the keys that typically move it, and mouse clicks don't seem to help, still black screen. Made a new map, made a box and put a spawn in it... and still nothing shows up. Not even the origin point.

Iam going to re-install my video....

Defragged and all that and scans are clean.. the camera view wont show up at all (just black box) and I still manage to lag out during maps ... I really need the camera working more then anything to see what Iam doing in 'real time'

I downloaded and updated the SDK, however, when I started mapping, things slowed down greatly then got system memory problems.... indicating possibly my computer is no longer able to map like it used to...

Stats are:
Win Xp Pro SP3
Pent 4, 2.53 GHz
1.25 GB Ram
7600 GS (512 MB) Video...

Thinkin I need more RAM and CPU power.... what do you think? Lol.
