I'm sorry but that's not actually want I need. Cstrikeman is the one with two triggers to open his door, I just want one trigger than can be activated by either the pushable or the player. But crucially, as soon as the trigger is empty, the door closes again.

The best analogy I can think of is the first chamber of Portal, where Chell uses the weighted storage cube to hold down the button which releases the door. As soon as the button is depressed the door shuts again. That effect is basically what I want.

Yes sorry, I should have created a new thread. By the sounds of it though what I want isn't even possible, so I guess there's no point making one now.

Yeah, starting to see that! It must work though, I just need to find/work out how... :(

Ah nertz, I really wanted it to code new weapons. I got it down to 484kb in Release mode, but it still doesn't recognise it.

I tried installing service pack 5, but it says I require MDAC 2.5 (or MDAC 2.6), but when I tried installing that the installer never did anything. Argh!!

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have used this thread for my question. Things seem to be getting confused...

That's really annoying if that is the case. Unfortunately I want to be able to open it with either the player or an object, so the inside and outside thing won't work :(

I managed to get client.dll to compile from SDK version 2.2 with VS6 (don't know the service pack, if any), but instead of the standard 95kb it came to 2Mb or something. More importantly, HL couldn't read it (the error message was literally "cl_dlls\client.dll cannot be read", don't you love helpful error messages!).

I've several years coding experience with C, Java, C#, PHP, etc. so I'm not a complete n00b but I'd like to get into this. I know it's not much to go on but any idea what's up with that?

Okay, I've got a new map with just two entities.

func_door
Name: Door
Delay before Close: 1
Flags: Toggle

trigger_multiple
Target: Door
Delay before reset: 3

If I stand in the trigger area, the door toggles between open and closed every 3 seconds. If I walk through the trigger, the door will stay open, until I walk through the trigger again. I want it to close on the event of me leaving the trigger area. :s

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, it would seem a logical bit of functionality to have. (To me anyway...)

It's a trigger_multiple, which doesn't have toggle. How could you hold down a button?

Sorry, I wasn't clear last time. I tried those two methods independently; the delay before reset was 0 when I tried the toggle flag.

Hmm, set the delay before reset to -1, and checked the toggle flag, the door stays open no matter what. Any idea what that might be?

Would that not be useful in the entity guides on here?

Sorry to piggy-back on someone else's thread, but seeing as though it's been answered and my question is sort of related...

Is it possible to keep a door open for however long the trigger is activated for? All I can find is hard-coded "delay before reset" values, and if I set that to zero, the door keeps shutting and opening again rather than staying open for the whole duration.

Thanks in advance.

Moab, for someone who is seemingly offended by this thread, you've posted in it more times than I have! Why are you still here? You've said your piece, time and again, and I've chosen not to listen to you. Deal with it. And if you'd bothered to actually read this thread you'd see that crollo has said he intends to apply in a day or two, so I can't quite follow you when you say my search for new members has failed.

Besides which, I created this thread less than 48 hours ago. Even if it were true that nobody at all was interested, it doesn't mean to say nobody else would be.

I would consider it quite an honour for AVGN to do a video on something I had helped work on! Unless I make it available for the SNES though I don't see it happening...

Because you're just being closed-minded. I've never said we're making it absolutely faithful to the original, or even that we're trying to make it as faithful as possible. We're retelling the HL2 story within the means available as of 1998-2000. We haven't even decided how much of it we're going to do. We may just do up to the Red Letter Day section for the novelty of it, meaning gravity gun, vehicles, wide open spaces, needn't matter to us.

Well if you do become a part of the team, you'll be able to see we have made some minor steps. We've got a lot of decision making and designing to do before we really get development off the ground though. And unfortunately, we haven't really got concept artists and designers on the team yet!

crollo, Half-Life's logo was lambda surrounded by a plain circle, not touching it. Half-Life Source's logo had the point at the top right, with an S inside it. I'm not too keen on your logo, red seems like a strange choice, and your lambda is clearly a very different font to that which Valve uses.

And why are you trying to contribute after all the sh*t-posting and negativity you've expressed so far?

Black Mesa's outdoor levels are X times the size of Half-Life 1's outdoor levels. Why is it possible for them but not for us?

And Moab, have you not seen Surface Tension? Of course GoldSrc can handle outdoor levels, it's all just an issue of scaling.

Half-Life 2: GoldSrc is a total-conversion mod which aims to recreate Half-Life 2 within the boundaries of the GoldSource engine. The vision of the mod is to create Half-Life 2 as we imagine Valve would have done it, had they made it at the time they made Half-Life 1; that means the same resources, limitations and so on. The mod will feature the same graphical style as Half-Life 1.
