Hi. Is there a way or a brush that would allow me to make it so that you cannot hear a sound through a wall. Ya know when you've got a sound going in the map and you have a wall beside it? You can still hear the sound on the other side of the wall. Is there some kind of brush that won't allow sounds through it?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe if the wall is super thick?

I think no but you can put the sound below the room and create a brush(if it's outside the level)around him so you will only hear it in that room.

Tried that... kind of... I have limited space.

If you'd read the "Forum Posts" tutorial, you'd know not to try and post E-ASCII diagrams! - Seventh

There is no brush that will block sound from being heard through a wall. However, I just thought of a possible workaround. Try having two trigger_multiples (brush entity), one that is outside the sound region that will trigger a trigger_relay (point entity) that will trigger the sound off, and one that is inside the sound region that will trigger another trigger_relay that will trigger the sound on.

Ummm... well I can't do that... you see... I'm working with a very complex prefab and I don't know exactly where the sounds are... I just know the whole thing is making several different sounds, that I don't want heard in the next room over.

Well, examine it closely, then!

WHAT?!?...I don't understand why, you can always ungroup the prefab and rebuild it. :) It is not forbbiden to do it better to do so for then the map will be your creation and only yours.

That came with it... grrr... so there is no way then?

Make it yourself then. I can't say any point in prefabs.

and unless your really planning to go public with this map - will it really matter?

Just e-mail them for their permission. Tell them why you need to modify it. Be sure to mention what a fantastic prefab it is and that it will make all the difference in your map. ;)

Yes... I could do that... but every time I tinker with it I mess it up and have to press undo.

I guess I'm gonna have to live with it.

Thanks for all of the help.
