There's no real rule of thumb for making rats maps, but my only tip'd be making stuff a uniform scale. (Ie, making it in 2x scale and then using Ctrl-M to scale it up.)

x10 is too big (the brushes will be too big). That would probably be more like an Ant map. Plus, it would almost always go off the grid.

csde_gimlirats appears to be on an 8-10X scale, if im not mistaken. Others seem to be scaled around 6-8X.

Thanks for the compliment Daubster!! In MINIMICUS I scaled up 3x. If you build your room normal size first, you can select the whole thing and scale it up (Ctrl+M) when you're done. The textures scale up right with the selection. Just be sure to use textured lighting, because point lights are a bitch to scale correctly.

If you stick to one room that's an ok size I sapose you could scale it 10X up.

texture lighting, WTF is that,

and also i tried scaling it 4x and its still to small, (u look more like a midgit instead of a rat....a short midgit) so maby ill go with 5x-6x

i played MINIMICUS to get some idea about how to do the resizing, great mod, slayerA. i especially like that part where the grunts force big momma into the microwave and fry her.

Just put a switchable textue(a texture with a +) that emmits light(with ~) on a brush.if you want it to be switchable then just make the brush a func_wall and create a button targeting it!!! ;)

the texture needs to be an "on light" its not going to be swithcable,
the exact texture im using is "~LIGHT3C" so what do i do from here?
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-28 09:46:25 UTC Post #111329
light emitting textures that are not switchable don't emmit light(they are just shinning)in my computer and I think they are not supposed to do so, so get a light texture with a +0(the 0 meens it's on and if there is an A it meens it's off).
