My english is crap so I'll try to explain.

I want to have a map wich is like a movie.

In the start your view will become black and some text will come up..

I triggered a env_Fade and a game_Text.

Works fine!

After The text is done and the fade is over.

The players view. (you got no weapons offcourse) most follow a path.

Then after it's done the screen will fade again with some text. And after that a other camara will follow a other path... then another fades come up with the end.

Now I normally did this with a trigger_camara in half-life 1 but this entity is no more in hl2 :( If you've seen cutscene you know what kind of thing I want to do.

Can anyone explain this to me? Man I hope this is understand able.

I think this is done with a func_tracktrain and some speceal camara entity or something?

Read up on the point_viewcontrol entity. As far as I know, it's the same system as used in HL. :)

You can do anything with the point_view control, it is for example used in BG maps.
If you want the movie to start on spawn, you simply make an on spawn output on it, and you can make it swich, or, just fly around or get teleported to different places using path_tracks

I can't describe what I mean in just a few words.

And I looked all kinds of tut sites. But I didn't looked just at entitity's descriptions :|

Mmmm... for the record!

I'll trigger a invisible func_Tracktrain and let it follow path_tracks?

And parenting the func_Tracktrain to the point_viewcontrol?

Then Get my text and fade up. And make another tracktrain with point_viewcontrol for a other ride?

You're nuts!

Just make a train and parant the viewcontrol, then, get that train rolling!
Maby, you don't need a train, there might be some things in the viewcontrol props.

Err, have you guys actually read about the entity? A point_viewcontrol itself can follow path_corners, you don't need to tie it to another entity...

And if you're not that good in english, Freshed, I've got a little Dutch mapping forum with a few other mapping friends... feel free to visit... ;)

I noticed.. I used to be on http://mox.mapdesign.nl/

A dutch hl2 tutorial site.

But it's pretty dead for a long time now.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of sites getting less active... my forum is quite for a few weeks too, though we're still mapping and playing and there's a new member every now and then.

I've been working on a site for us to get some more activity and provide more resources for beginning mappers, but due to a lot of other things I've kinda slowed down working on it. I'm planning to pick up on it as soon as I can though.

I've noticed too, that there's still quite some Dutch mappers around. It's not that people aren't busy anymore but I think the longer ones somewhat quit and there's a new load of people, attached to other sites than the current ones. Well, yeah...

True, true.

Anyway if you need some links for your links to mapping sites :

Links to mapping sites.

Thanks. It's not that I need them but it's nice to know some more sites. I knew most of them anyway, though... ;)

Bytheway, how long have you been mapping, and have you released anything already?

Haha..

Well captain P.

To be honest. I started out mapping for half-life itself. I mapped for it for about a year I guess. Then I started to map for hl2 in early 2005.

I learned mapping on my own. I opened the editor and started to do things. Both half-life and hl2. I did a few tuts but most I learned on my own by looking at poeple's questions. So some basic things I never knew since I never did a "how do I create my own room" tutorial or something. 1 year half-life and about 6 months half-life 2 seems long and it is. But I don't map so much. 1 hour a day. Wich is mostly nothing.

Whoa, he spelt "doughnuts" right!

We have a good few active members still ? I'd say... fifty-odd? Anyway, I guess that's that now, sorted the camera.

Well not exactly.... 1 last thing :

If i wanna trigger it...

I made a trigger_once.

Make a output for to trigger the point_viewcontrol.

I can enable/disable it. But 1 thing I don't get.

My output named, I can choose of these : OnEndFollow, Onuser1/2/3/4.

What does the OnEndFollow mean? If I choose this one and enable it (via this input option) does it work then?
