why doesn?t huge maps like rats maps and surf maps lag ?

I don't know about surf maps, but the rats maps prob. don't lag because they are simple in design, there arent't more brushes than a normal size map, they are just bigger. That's my theory anyway.

But if i make a big room, my fps drops like hell :S

Well, a broad question...

Not all surf and rats maps run well, but when they do, they either use simple architecture, stretched faces (often the case for rats maps) and a good optimized layout.

Check these, and your, maps with gl_wireframe set to 2 and with r_speeds on. This should give you a broad idea of what's going on in most maps.

Ah thanks, but my problem with big maps could turn out to be a problem with my computer

But the map i?m working on has a simple structure, nothing advanced and it?s a lot smaller than a rats map, but i get like 13fps =/

Email it to me, i'll see if it runs well on mine, and give you my opinions.

Well, it?s far from done, i just made the basic structure, from wich im going to build a more playable map, but thanks, because i wouldn?t want to waste time on a map that nobody will play! I?ll send it tomorow when im at school, don?t have it on this computer
