Why is that happening?

Also, been looking at patrols using path_corner's. They work on an empty basic room but when I copy/paste them to the map I want them in they stop working!
Everything is laid out the same...

The monster is stuck in a wall! : (brush) Those dots are there so you would notice it!
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 10:07:46 UTC Post #143581
He's not, thats the 1st thing I tried.
I placed him mid-air so he drops to where he should be.
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 10:09:01 UTC Post #143583
Strange...maybe it's not the floor but one of the walls! Try to put him in the middle of the room. ;)

Doesn't metter! Try moving him a few units away from the wall. It heppend to me many times. The monster is far away from the wall but it's still stuck in it!

Get Spirit!
Spirit allows you to check a flag wich removes the dots.
I also recommend you to just, remake the grunt. (remove the oldie and make a new one)

Can't use Spirit unless they have support for everything new in Opposing Force.

Remaking from scratch now...
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 10:28:44 UTC Post #143601
Spirit have support for Opposing force!
It's the same engine.

Oh, and, why remake everything?
Just remake the grunt. :)

No it doesn't! Spirit is a Hl1 mod and he'll have to combine between the two Dlls if he wants spirit for opfor.
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 11:25:38 UTC Post #143626
Ack! I'm not combining dll's too much work!

Fixed it, he had to be dead center of the room, but now he falls down a hole I have there and monsterclip isn't stopping him.
Falls right through it.

Elon Yariv: Umm, I combined them and it worked. :S

Evilsod: The monsterclip only stops the AI from going through, I belive.
You'll need to make some kind of a brush that is transparant, and make it a func door.
Then you could use triggers to make different things be able to come through.

BUT! Did you check the monsterclip flag at the grunt properties?

I'm stuck in a vat of a billion problems!
It was the monsterclip flag, but now he gets to spot 3 and stops moving on his patrol! Stupid n00b of a guard this guy is!
...and yes I've checked and even remade all the path_corner's.

Wow cool madcow...can you send me the Dll?
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 14:24:02 UTC Post #143689
I packed up the mod again, they werent combined like that,, but, all of the OP4 stuff was there, only one difference, it used the spirit DLL. :S
Still, it is op4, but still not, lol.
Meh, no use

You're not using op4 as content, :S That's a original HL grunt.
Are you sure you got it all set up for op4?

I am mapping it for my own mod, I'm using the OpFor dll and I will be using friendly grunts as well as the original HL grunts.
I've re-skinned the friendly grunts so you can tell the difference too.

I know about setting it up and about Spirit, if I didn't need the OpFor friendly grunts, aliens and weapons I would use Spirit.
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 15:07:35 UTC Post #143696
Weapons? That's easy to fix.
Aliens? The only different alien is the genome.. :/
Friendly grunt? Can be done through spirit.. :)

Genome
Shock Trooper
Voltigore
Drill Sergeant
Otis
Zombie Barney and Marine

How do I go about adding those along with weapons to Spirit?
If it involves programming I'm not going to bother.
If anyone is aware of it already being done, please let me know.

These dots, what are they? A sprite? Something coded into the engine?

I would like to remove them, without spirit that is.

All they do is tell you that there is an error with the entity in question...

okay... You may also have an entity touching him, or a train of some sort... When HL compiles, it maps out every possible area that the train can be... so... Maybe your grunt is in that area?

Yes, but what are they made of? A sprite?

Probably hard-coded sprites or such. Simple yellow dots, nothing too fancy to even use a sprite for.

As far as I know, they don't show up when developer is set to 0, though. It's a developer sign only.

It'd be nice if we could harness that power.. such as make radiation come from an infected headcrab or something...
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-25 22:03:18 UTC Post #143753
You can also get the monster-stuck-in-wall error by placing the grunt partially over the edge of the hole. I know it sounds weird; you can test it by putting a grunt on the edge of a pedestal that's nowhere near a wall. He will still get the yellow dots. So can you fit your grunt somewhere between the wall and the edge of the hole? That would fix it, if there's room. You only need a little space on each side.

Is there any comsolecommand to shut of sprites?
In that case, let's try it and see if the dots dissapare!

the dots may be also a script error, first happend to me when i made a scientist for the coffee_idle, when deleted and redone the scrips it was fine :
Posted 19 years ago2005-10-26 07:15:15 UTC Post #143796
No, no, no... I got them in my compo 13 entry.

In the models flags, there should be a flag, 'No Yellow blobs' or something like that. Check it.

Make sure you have the latest fgd file.

I'm using the spirit dlls and fgd, so not sure about the original fgd file or whatnot.

Thanks, SlayerA I never knew that! :)

The only time I've seen those before is when I was making my first map and I put a monster in a wall, hmm. Strange.
