Couldn't find this in forums and tutorial didn't answer question.

I have Barney saying a sentence, not moving or anything, only talking. his sentence is triggered by a trigger once, linked to multimanger, set to 0.001 delay, but he says the sentence about 10 -15 seconds after I trigger it.

Pleaz shed some light on this rather annoying problem.

Cheers.

Try "developer 2" in the console, and watch what happens. Does everything else that the multimanager's connected to fire on time?

Why 0.001 delay? I'm not sure that you can use that many numbers, and even if you can, you might as well set the delay to 0 because noone will notice the difference.

Don't use 0. 0.001 is a bit small... might be being ignored by HL, indeed. Try '1', and, if that works, '0.1' is a good setting. Nobody will notice 100ms.

I think it's more of a problem that due to the time it costs to render a frame HL just can't be that precise.
But to extend it to 10 - 15 seconds is strange. Try above suggestions, or test with some other entities to see if it's indeed a timing problem or a problem with that scripted_sentence.

the multimanger is triggering other things including a door which opens on perfect timing. Also, tried 0.1 and 1.0, but it still triggers about 10 - 15 seconds later. This happens in other places in the same map and when I try it in other maps!

Only use capitals when writing the name of the sentance! Example: !GM_WISE ;)

Yeah I know, I had the same problem when I wrote it with regular letters, the monster said the sentence after 10 seconds.

Have you tried other sentences for Barney? That way you would know if the problem is within that sentence or within the triggering method.

no, as I said, this happens with all sentences in my map, scientists, barnies, and any sentence in sentence.txt

This is just a bug in HL, it can't be fixed, not without Valve's help. I had this problem before, and i was unable to get them fixed.
