Just wondering what games you have that are ages out of date but you still love?

You can also include games you'd love to play but can't because your PC either can't run them or mashes the hell out of them due to the immense power of modern systems.

Urb Still Plays :

-Lemmings
-Theme Hospital
-Transport Tycoon Duluxe
-Worms 2

Urb's PC Mutilates (can't play but want to):

-Duke Nukem 3D
-Starfighter 3000
-Worms

Games I play, only now and then these days, that still hold up for me:

Raptor: Call of the Shadows
  • Good graphics (for it's time, but still decent enough nowadays) and good fun to play.
Cyberdogs
  • For some reason just addictingly fun to play.
Games I'd like to play, but can't:

Warzone 2010
  • RTS with some very interesting concepts.

Games that I play or played not too long ago:

Systemshock 2 - You don't need hipoly and hires to make the play wet his pants from fear. :D
Conolization - Presumably the predecessor to the very popular Civilation series. Much better though :)
The Elder Scrolls: Arena - I really tried to play it, but after several hour I gave up because the controls sucked so much.

Games that I'd love to play, but can't:

Systemshock (1) - It requires DOS and has troubles with many emulators. All I read about it made me wanna play it even more.
Fallout (1) - I played Fallout 2 and really loved it. I have no idea where to get part one from.
No one lives forever (1) - I know, it's not old - but I cannot play it, simply because it seems to have disappeared from this planet.

Games I play:

-Fury Of The Furies:
I really enjoy playing this game. I don't know why, it's almost like any arcade game. Shoot, avoid shots and enemies and solve puzzles. Maybe it's because of the other special powers you can have(shoot ropes, eat rocks and dive) but I think it's mainly because the fact you're a ball, it makes your movement harder(you bounce back if you hit the wall, you need many jumps to reach to the maximum hight you can jump to), I think it spices up the gameplay.

-The Amazing Spiderman:
I played this game when I was young, now I continue playing it. It's sometimes fun to solve it's many puzzles.

-The Chaos Engine:
I heard there are many games of it's type but never played any one of them. I enjoy the cool graphics and running from shots, massicaring all sorts of cool creatures. The characters are cool also!

-Z:
The first one not the second! It's gameplay is really diffrent from all the other strategy games.(not as always: build buildings->Harvest money->build defences and army->slaghter your enemies) You need to work fast and take as many teretories, more then the ememy. There is no money, the more teretories you have the faster the factories you find in some teretories and your fort will produce soilders. Plus the soilder handling isn't as annoying as in most in the other strategy games. Here the soilders are in squadrens of 2-4.

-Xenon 1:
Woohoo. Although the graphics suck(not for it's time though) the gameplay is fun and hard! It's not like most space shooters game you are not always a space ship, you can turn into a tank, you're slower but you can move backward and you have more armor.

-Xenon 2 Megablast:
Again a great succses. It's not like it's prediccesor but sure is fun and hard. I remember this game from my childhood. It has cool graphics too.

-Speed ball II:
The only sports game I like to play. Unlike the other sport games it's hard and you can get points by injurying your oponents. I like it's gameplay and graphics. It should be improved in a few things but overall it's nice.

-Gods:
I always remembered this game from my childhood as "The knight". I remembered the big bosses, awsome character designs and cool graphics. Again it got a great gameplay.

I just love the bitmap brothers' old games!

Games I'd like to play, but can't:

-Chaos Engine 2:
It looks it's exectly like the older one, only with new levels. Thats why I'd like to have it, but it's for amiga only.

Edit:

FOR CHRIST SAKE!!! Worms Armagedon and Heros 3 aren't old! Worms 1/2 and heros 1/2 are old.

Fallout (1) - I played Fallout 2 and really loved it. I have no idea where to get part one from.
Ebay, you MUST buy this game, Fallout 1 and 2 and THE ultimate RPG's.

Games Tycell Still loves to play:

Warzone 2100: Awesome strategy where you can design and make your own units! I think there is somthing like 3000 unit combinations you can have... awesome game. CP: WHy cant you get it and run it? It works fine for me coughemulecough

Fallout 1 and 2: The ultimate post apocalyptic gaming experiance, still an amazing game even though its so old. I once tried to map "Vault 13" once, turned out well until I lost interest.

HomeWorld Cataclysm: The best in the homeworld serise IMO (yes, even better than HW2) this game is awesome, I know the story line off by heart and barley have to concentrate to complete it in Very Hard mode.

Advanced Wars (1 and 2): Highly addictive game for the GBA, give it a try its great fun, even if the final level of 1 is insanly hard!

Final Fantasy 7: The latest addition to my collection, just got into the shinra building and am going around for all the key cards (for those who know the story). I have never played this game before and am loving this.

Command and Conquer: I have all of them, though some dont run, I play the ones that do. Tiberian Sun 'roxorz my soxzors', I only wish they could make a version of that in the C&C General engine.

Games Tycell wants to play but cant because his computer is too cleaver for them:

Constructor: Awesome and funny game.

Command and Conquer 1: Did get it to run one time but as soon as any unit of yours entered the top 4 squares of the map it crashed (Made the NOD campaign impossible to start and the GDI one impossible to complete more than half way).

Command and Conquer Red Alert: The first one, great game unfortunatly the disk is so battered it wont install.

Erm... thats about it really. There are more but I cant think of any ATM.
Posted 18 years ago2006-02-07 10:09:59 UTC Post #161876
@ Tycel: C&C and Red Alert 1 can be played on modern machine with Windows XP running on them. All you need to do is to install a special patch.

I was still playing stunts and simcity 1 a year ago.

@Tycell: I got the original here, which I pathed up but still can't get to play. Perhaps there's some workaround for it but I haven't found it (yet?).

@Elon: I couldn't get Z to work but I really liked Z: Steel Soldiers, although it takes some time to get used to the way battles are fought there. Some more unit differences between the two sides would've been good, too, but I guess that's not what Z is about. ;)

I really miss the first "Megarace"game that came with my computer in 1994. It had nice graphics for a 60 mhz computer. Last time I tried to play it was in a P II 400 Mhz, and the game was running so fast it was unplayable. I guess the CPU clock speed was too high.
The second version had even better graphics (Image1 Image2) and still worked on the my 60 Mhz Pentium. It was done with prerendered video. If you went backwards the view consisted of fixed camera views :D

Damn it all this talk of Theme Hospital make me want to download it again...

infact opens Emule

Reminds me of Theme Park, that game was awesome, if you put two "one way" arrows going inward from the main entrace people could never leave and they ended up spending all their money and then when they ran out they just bummed round the park doing fuck all.

The rollercoaster tycoon series fucked Theme Park World up the arse with so much better-ness.
