Ok, for any of you geniouses out there, I need a mega fix. I've tried everything! I'm almost sure it's because of a compile error, but I can't tell.

http://rapidshare.de/files/15607141/ClanTrainingMap.rmf.html

What isn't working is there is a red light. It is supposed to darken the place. Noclip up one floor. This is the admin place. You hit the lightswitch and it turns the lights on. That's what it used to do. After one test, it was full bright. The compile process said nothing about lights having anything wrong with them. The normal light's flags are initially dark, meaning they have to be triggered in order for them to turn on. Well, as soon as someone gets it working so you spawn and it's a dark red, then hit the lightswitch and it's brightened again, please post the download link here. Thanks.

P.S. The lightswitch is by the computer desk, to the right.

P.S.P.S Sorry, I forgot the wad file for the textures, here.

I didn't take a look at your map, but fullbright often indicates a leak. Did you see anything about leaks in your compile log?
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-15 21:32:10 UTC Post #168535
Yes, in fact. There was a leak. I could not find it though. Actually, there were more like 5 links, info_player_starts were out of the map. I fixed it, and sure enough, it still said the links were there. Does this have to do with the full bright thing?
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-15 21:37:32 UTC Post #168536
Links? do you mean leaks?
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-15 22:54:57 UTC Post #168548
I don't give a FUCK what I said before. Now's now, I really need this fixed!

Why the mad answer? You weren't really clear in your previous post, which makes it difficult for us to help you...
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-15 23:25:55 UTC Post #168554
Sorry about that. I don't know why I'm so mad right now, it's not like I can't take as long as I want to make this map. What is it that you need clearer? Besides, can't someone just get the map compile it and find the same thing? It's only a cube currently! It'll be more advanced later, but for now, it's plain, easy and simple.
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-16 00:05:40 UTC Post #168558
leaks cause lighting errors. as long as you have a leak any lights you put in your map do zip.

So, a leak ah? What I usually do in such situations is hiding every entity in the map (selecting them all from the entity report/manager/whateverit'scalled in Hammer) and then flying around it in the editor.
If you compile often enough, you can usually pinpoint the leak to the part you added last, so it shouldn't be too much work finding it then.

I tried it too but it's very confusing :)
Although i must say that it did help me to find a leak. But i prefer the big cube method.

@ seventh, it was the before and after shots of the dark and light :glad:
yeah i accidentally found it. I was in the properties window, and i clicked a wall and it said func_wall. so i hit to world and no leak :)

Posted 18 years ago2006-03-16 17:59:59 UTC Post #168800
It's very simple to use- First you need to choose the .map and point files. Then choose the color, dimentions and name of the block that will be created. And at last press mark leak and the block will be created in the map file. To find it just search for the entity with that name. ;)

i still have the map. I'll give it another compile and check it out

Re-Compiled. Had a look at the log, and there is nothign out of the ordinary. Unless you added other stuff to it, which is completley possible. So i guess im stuck waiting til 3:30 northern.

This is an extra room I added on. There is a door going to it, but without any funtions currently.

This is in game. Behind that door, there is nothing. The previous picture shows there is really a room there. Basically you noclip out of the map if you noclip into that room. Any ideas?

What exactly are you doing there? Is that door a solid brush or an entity? You should lead a corridor to that room and actually physically attach its inside to the inside of the current room. Take a look at the beginners tutorials at this site if you're wondering how to do this.
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-17 20:14:22 UTC Post #169187
All right, this is just screwed up. I've added a coridoor. Still not working!

Note: The wadfile is on page 1 at the top.

ill take a look at it.. i still dont know what you're trying to accomplish

EDIT!!

Ok i found the problem.
The second room is completley sealed off from the rest of the level. There is just a box with nothing in it.. No entities or anything.

Here's what you should do.

#1 Never go below 8units for making the level (unless its detail)
#2 As said above, make the door actually a door and put a light entity in that room. Be careful though. Because your 'door' brush touches the void.
