I know how to import textures to a new wad using wally (sorry I told it wrong) I don't know how to get those textures out of the games.
for example there is a was in doom2 but wally doesnt load it saying not supported wad file

Doom's Wad file contains every single file of the game this includes levels and stuff. Because of that you weren't able to open it with wally. Quake's wad is probebly in the pak.(if quake has a wad at all) And duke nukem is just like doom.

so there isnt any way to... unpack these and grab the textures?

unless you are planning to recreate the olde levels, is there really any need for using such low-res textures anyways?

I found some DN3D textures on my PC the other day. 6 of them just sitting out in the open area of my E:) Drive. So I made a DN3D wad. It looked shite. End of...

The quake ones may look good however.

Guess who?! It's me!

Anyways, the best way to extract textures from doom and doom2 would be with XWE (eXtendable Wad Editor) You'll have to google for it, but it's by far the best. You can extract sprites, textures, sound, music, the works!

Cool, thanks Pyroclasm! I needed that for one of my maps. I need a texture from Doom2, the one with the screaming deformed skulls! :badass:

Do you know where can I get a Quake 2 model(.md2) viewer?

Are you crazy? It has spyware in it and what not. Google doesn't.

Erm, ... google is the spyware for the entire world's population.[/brain]

Using such old textures really ain't a good idea. Their resolution is about four times smaller than HL-textures.
And honestly, I even find HL?'s textures too low-res already. :o
