Hmmm seems to me that the only excuse for people NOT reading the tutorials is "Im a newbie"...
Be nice:-) everyone has to start somewhere, and if you don't know that all you need to do is make a door, then the forum is a great place to start ed:(Andy)

Seventh-Monkey linked to the 'func_train' tutorial, but it sounds like a 'func_door' may work as well, and they are simpler. Now click on the "browse all" button under the tutorials and get reading!

the main difference between doors and trains is that trains move to the pathcorneres given, while doors movement is controlled by thier size, for example, a 30 unit wide door will move 30 units providing it moves on its width. if its only 5 units high itll move 5 units up or down, depending on which direction its set.

Unless you set a lip. Negative lip will make the door move further than its own depth, a positive lip will mean, well, for example a 30-unit door with a lip of 5 would only move 25 units. With a lip of -5 it'd move 35.
