According to Windows, i cannot activate it because the 'number of times it can be activated with this product key has been exceeded'. Fuck.

The copy of Windows i use is ONLY on this family computer, it's a personal copy, never been copied or given out to anybody. Why on earth would there be a limit to the amount of times you can activate Windows with this key? I need to activate Windows in 28 days or i'm lost. Anyone have some helpful suggestions? Lousy friggin' Microsoft.

ED: I;m going to try activating it over the phone to see if that'll allow me.

I'm guessing it's (haha) Home? If not, try

They'll skip authorisation, and will only harass you with security updates instead of all the other pointless crap that Microsoft Update bombards you with. The only down side is that you can't install the IE7 beta, but who cares?

XP keys? What? They were random characters in the format of my legitimate key. They are for entertainment and research purposes only. For use only guided by a doctor.

Just call up Microsoft and tell them. They'll give you a new one.

People that like microsoft makes me sad. It's horrable how they have managed to totally brainwash some people with theyre crappy software.
Posted 18 years ago2006-05-03 04:55:30 UTC Post #178114
But what other choice do gamers have, eh?
Posted 18 years ago2006-05-03 05:11:10 UTC Post #178115
Choice #1: Let microsoft take over your brain while you sit on a windows box, fondeling about with error messages and an unlimited amout of patches for an even larger amount of security holes.
Choice #2: Play cheezy games on mac or linux.
Choice #3: Get a life.
Choice #4: Get a job.
Choice #5: Sleep all day.

Ok, ill admit. I wish someone would fix up something like DirectX for linux. But hey... I'm getting used to not getting what i wish for. :P
And ill admit that i have to get on a windows box once in a while, for games or game development. Yes... I am ashamed of myself :nervous:

Gee, with those choices, I'd have to agree with penguinboy. :P

Option 5 kinda outranked the rest, yea. Even I, who aint really a gamer kinda wanna go for that one. :)

do you want an xp pro serial?
Posted 18 years ago2006-05-03 11:54:25 UTC Post #178177
I've tried about a million (or.. five?) cd keys.
None have worked, because i used it's proper key when installing it (i think that's why no other keys will work). But i'm still yet to ring Microsoft, for reasons unknown.. or i'm just too lazy. Anyway i've still got 25 days left as of about now.
