Ok folks, apparently I am the second judge with SlayerA. Both of us have download the compo entries. I haven't looked at 'em yet, but I dunno about SlayerA.

I sure hope you guys included readme's so I know what's HL and what's Source.

Um, i add caps lock to some of my words because, when you talk you dont keep in the same tone like i am now....it just adds variety to life...i suppose..............and........the..........are long pauses....GEDDIT???

I would map for Source - if I had 2GB of RAM and a 400 video card. hammer.exe takes up 450MB of memory just idling.

What's a 400 video card?
And you don't need 2GB RAM, 1GB is fine.

I made 11 source maps with 512 MB or RAM and a geforce4 Ti 4200 and never had any problems. People tend to overestimate the system requirements for Hammer 4 and source. What you need is to keep your computer clean and healthy, and Hammer should work fine

Hmmm, I just opened Task manager. Out of my 512 RAM, 450 is taken up with Windows, mystery processes, Steam, Xfire, Opera and McAfee. When I run the Source Hammer, the program feels sluggish and moving around in the 3D view feels chunky. I don't want to even imagine compiling as i've heard vvis is slow.. I've always wondered, can I create things like cubemaps even if I can't use it in-game? ("-dxlevel 70" thanks to my MX 440)

400 dollar video card. Ala my friends computer. I want to try my compile on his supposed 50x better dual core 2.66 compared to my single 2.66 P4.

$400?! I've mapped for source on a AU$80 card! a US$400 is something crazy like a 7900GTX...as for your RAM, you need to clean your computer up if you have that kind of RAM usage running normally.

I managed Source on a GeForce 2, so you all fail.

We had no Source entries by the way. So much for a dual compo.

iirc, the mods have lives too, although that could have changed in the last few months.
otherwise, they're holed up in their basements playing cs, so leave them alone kthx.

Chuck Norris by Masta Killa

It was clear that as soon as this map started we had a winner. Masta Killer's sendup of the world of the infamous Texas ranger had custom skins, voices and some rather nice mapping. It also included some staples of the Chuck Norris world, which were quite ingeniously recreated in the Half-Life engine. A well deserved first.

The Weakest Link by Kasperg

If you haven't seen the show before, this map probably won't be as appealing as it could be. However, if you have, you're enjoy the fact that this is a fairly accurate recreation of the show, right down to the lighting, textures and the format of the show itself. Gordon's walk of shame was a particular highlight, as well as his subsequent rant.

Muppets by The_6th_Monkey

I was wondering when we'd see the Muppets in the Half-Life universe, considering we've had the game for nearly a decade now. The_6th_Monkey delivers, with a map with snarks, G-Man and the Cookie Monster! If that doesn't sound awesome to you, I don't know what does...
My only quip with this map is that it's quite short. However, some interesting entity work makes for a charming rendition of the Muppets theme.
