I recently gave my compiled map to a friend who put it on his server. But when he changed the map, the sever froze and restarted. When I was compiling I didn't see any errors. Help?

1) Does it work if you set up a DM on your own PC and have people join in?

2) Have you definately got any 'info_player_deathmatch' entities set up and are they all inside the level?

I have info_player_deathmatch and info_player_start for t and ct spawns and there inside the map. It's for 1.6 and the map doesn't change it just freezes the server.

Does the map work when not on your friend's server?

If the answer to this question is yes, then its your moron friend's server's fault...

Post your compile log: you may have overlooked something.

Well I can run it when I goto New Game. It works fine on there. Do I have to compile it again? because I didn't save the log.

Then its your friend's fault.

More details = Faster Answer.

Did you use info_player_start or info_player_deathmatch?

You have to use info_player_deathmatch in order to make it multiplayer...

and compile it as such...

He already said he did, Bratty.

I imagine this is some sort of weird server problem: try testing it a different server if you can (try hosting it yourself, if your connection is decent enough, and get people to join).

Yeah, I did use info_player_start and info_player_deathmatch. I can run it perfectly find in "New Game" it's just that thats not a real server. Also I don't think I can host a server because my computer is on a router connection. My dads computer is the main computer.

I'm just throwing this out there:

It has nothing to do with the map, it is the server.

If you have a router, all you have to do is forward the correct ports to get it working.

it's probably because of a missing .wad error.

These constantly crash servers, and if they're not listen servers, no obvious error message is produced.

what .wads are you using? Did you -wadinclude them

If a big ol' box says

Token too large

Its a .wad error...

Wouldn't it say there was an error? Also I dont have access to the main router, im on the connection from that router.

Does the map run through new game without errors on your friend's computer?
