I checked through many of the tutorials and forum post, but I can't seem to find out how to embed custom wad or sound files into the map so they do not have to be downloaded with a resource file. For example, many of docRoc's maps have custom imaging yet no resource file required.

To kill two birds with one stone, I was also wondering how light environment worked. As in, create the 'room' with equal lighting without cause of shadowing. I know if you don't place a light it has the same effect but often it comes out too bright.

I don't think it's possible to embed sound, but to embed the wad I suggest downloading a batch compiler:

Set it up like the built in compiler for valve hammer and all you do is check off the wad you want to include and browse for it. There is a way to -wadinclude with the built in compiler for hammer, but I've never learned how because the batch is easier.

This is a much better batch compiler and is still supported.

As for question 2 "light_environment is used in outdoor areas or wherever you have a sky texture. If you don't want shadows you'll just have to mess around with the settings of the light entity or use more textlights or something.
